Phoebe Burgess Sparks Outrage Over $20 Designer Woolies Bag: ‘I’m Obsessed!’

I’ve enthusiastically shared my appreciation for a stylish designer tote from Woolworths on social media, which unfortunately, seems to have stirred some criticism among the shopping community, labeling it as extravagant.

A prominent supermarket chain partnered with renowned British fashion designer Anya Hindmarch, famous for her high-end handbags and accessories, in producing The Universal Tote, an attractive and eco-friendly shopping bag priced at $20.

On a recent Friday, the former football partner at age 36, posted a brief video on her Instagram story, showcasing her recent fascination with a new item she acquired from the supermarket.

From Phoebe‘s perspective, the video captured her walking down a sidewalk while holding her freshly purchased bag.

She strolled along with an air of longing, swaying an empty shopping bag before her. Eventually, she placed it on a patch of green grass.

Instead of being packed with groceries as you might expect, the bag was instead brimming with a vibrant assortment of towels.

In the caption, Phoebe excitedly mentioned that the item is found at the Woolworths checkout and she can’t get enough of it herself, without a hint of jest.

She went on praising the qualities of the bag in a following post, saying, ‘Savoring time with this charming cashier.’

It seems that Phoebe’s enthusiastic opinions on the designer bag did not resonate with the shoppers, as they responded quite differently to it.

In a situation where I’m struggling to purchase essentials like food, Woolworths offers a $20 bag that contains very little. That’s the gist of it.

When I’m barely making ends meet for groceries, Woolworths introduces a $20 bag with almost nothing in it. I get it.

‘Omg that is outrageous,’ another said.

‘$20… in this economy?!’ one raged.

Apart from the questionable decision by Woolworths to launch a $20 bag during a cost of living predicament, the color of the bag isn’t even fashionable; it seems they’re still promoting the corporate green image of Woolworths.

‘Cost of living crisis and Woolworths thought let’s bring out a $20 shopping bag,’ one chimed in.

Others found the price of the bag to be extremely high or exaggerated, while another person displayed a strong disbelief by physically rolling their eyes when they encountered it in shops.

‘That escalated quickly from free to 10 cents to $1 to $20,’ one pointed out.

‘They really are out of touch with what’s going on these days,’ another added.

Yet, not everyone shared the sentiment of the uproar, as one individual put it: “I’ll purchase it since it’s the only Anya Hindmarch item I’ll likely ever be capable of affording.

The handbag is from Anya Hindmarch, a popular UK-based designer known for her collaborations with British supermarkets. Her designs always sell out quickly, making them rare finds here in Australia. I was fortunate enough to get one because I adore it and can comfortably afford it.

‘No way!! These are amazing,’ one raved.

Phoebe and her former NFL player husband, Sam, gained widespread attention due to the scandal where he confessed to infidelity during their 4-year union.

In 2015, they got married, but by the end of 2018, they parted ways. They tried to reconcile in April 2019, but ultimately decided to separate permanently six months after that.

Previously, Sam, a former star player for the Rabbitohs, eventually confessed to infidelity towards Phoebe and shared details about how his actions brought shame upon her through his conduct.

While I was traveling on tour, something unfortunate transpired, and it’s unfortunate that this occurred. If circumstances had been different, it would have been challenging for Phoebe to be in that situation.
