Phoebe Burgess opens up about being the ‘hero’ in her children’s lives following shock new career move
As a mother myself, I can deeply relate to Phoebe’s heartfelt words about her children’s health and wellbeing. It’s a constant balancing act, isn’t it? We want to give our little ones the world, but sometimes all we can offer is a comforting hug and a trip to the doctor.
Phoebe Burgess discusses the tough and fulfilling parts of raising her family on her own, as she manages the journey of being a solo parent.
The former partner of an NRL player, who has two kids with her ex, Sam Burgess, confessed that navigating single parenthood isn’t always straightforward, yet she deeply appreciates her tight-knit circle of support.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Mail Australia, I couldn’t help but gush about my extraordinary role as a parental hero, following my thrilling career revelation this week. My delightful duo, Poppy, aged seven, and Billy, five, seem to think I’ve hit the jackpot, and who am I to disagree?
A mother who is always on-the-go has recently published a fresh children’s story called “Zach and Zoe’s Hide and Sneeze.” The goal of this book is to educate young readers about allergic rhinitis, a health issue that impacts a large number of Australians starting at the age of four.
Working in partnership with the hay fever and allergy brand Zyrtec, Phoebe drew upon her personal experiences as a single parent, having raised children who were themselves diagnosed with allergies.
In my professional opinion as a lifestyle expert, this captivating book follows the journey of a loving mother and her two energetic children. What sets her apart is an extraordinary transformation she undergoes – she becomes a superhero! This miraculous change occurs when she successfully tackles their persistent allergy issues during an exciting game of hide-and-seek.
“Phoebe shared with Daily Mail Australia that while she’s working on the book, she can only include what she knows and the circumstances of the setting at a particular point in time.”
In our family dynamic, I’m the one who dons the role of a superhero in my little ones’ eyes on a day-to-day basis. It’s a trio here, you see.
As a devoted mom of two, I bid farewell to the vibrant city of Sydney at the dawn of 2020, embarking on a new journey that led me to reside with my dear parents on their expansive estate nestled in the tranquil Southern Highlands.
Phoebe considers one of her finest choices, particularly for her children, as being instrumental in safeguarding their innocent spirit and independence.
‘I learned really early on that there’s a trade off. My kids love the space,’ she said.
1. Billy owns an electric bicycle, and his father recently built him an exciting track in the horse arena with jumps – Poppy enjoys spending time outdoors and expressing her creativity.
If they hadn’t parted ways in 2019, the ex-TV producer would probably reside in a cozy apartment in Sydney by now.
“It’s a tremendous blessing to have space for your children during their younger years. I desire for them to be unrestrained and untamed, and it would likely be the case that we’d return to city living in an apartment setting.” (She also mentioned this.)
As a seasoned commuter who has faced countless traffic jams and unexpected delays on my daily work drive, I have learned to shoulder the risks that come with it. By taking on this responsibility, I mitigate the potential downside by being prepared for emergencies and contingencies. In those rare instances when I might be stranded on the highway, I am fortunate to have my mom as a safety net, ready to pick up the kids from school if needed. This experience has taught me that flexibility, preparation, and a strong support system can make all the difference in navigating life’s unpredictable twists and turns.
Phoebe added: “It might seem odd, but I considered having them visit Sydney temporarily, yet it didn’t feel right. They truly enjoy the liberty to come and go as they please while running around.”
While it may not be straightforward and imperfect at times, there are things I can certainly offer them.
Phoebe continued the conversation by sharing stories about her kids’ allergies and stressed the significance of parents staying informed about their children’s wellbeing, ensuring they receive proper medical care when needed.
“As a mother,” she shared with Daily Mail Australia, “I’ve often found myself experiencing the same discomfort, pain, or even a simple sneeze that my children might have.”
On our family’s land, Poppy and Billy often play outdoors in a free-spirited manner. I’ve observed that upon coming indoors, they frequently exhibit symptoms such as sneezing, tearing eyes, and scratching what appears to be an irritated skin rash.
When my children appear uneasy, no matter how trivial the issue might seem, it makes me feel as though I’m missing something or not being an effective parent.
However, I visited my general practitioner for advice, and I received all the necessary information. Additionally, I hope that by reading this book, parents will find valuable insights as their children might recognize the situations depicted within it.
Phoebe was previously married to NRL star Sam Burgess for four years.
In the year 2015, Sam and Phoebe got married; they parted ways at the end of 2018, but reconciled again in January 2019. However, their relationship didn’t last long and ended permanently in October of the same year.
After the celebrity couple parted ways, their divorced was finalised in April 2020.
In the past, Sam was part of the South Sydney Rabbitohs team. On the reality show SAS Australia, he confessed that he had been unfaithful to his wife in the year 2017, with a woman residing in Melbourne.
Currently, he’s betrothed to Lucy Graham, a hairdresser from Leeds, and they both have a little girl together whom they call Robbie.
In the vibrant tapestry of my life, I found myself extending a heartfelt proposal to my cherished partner, Lucy, back in the lush month of June, 2023 – a mere nine months since we decided to share our love story with the world. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated joy and anticipation for the future adventures we were about to embark on together.
Starting from the 1st of September up until the 30th of November, 2024 (while supplies last), Phoebe’s book titled “Zach and Zoe’s Hide and Sneeze” can be obtained for free as a promotional item when making a purchase at Chemist Warehouse, Terry White Chemmart, and other participating independent pharmacies.
It will also be available as a downloadable e-book from local participating grocery stores.
