‘Living on this isolated island offers Philip a chance to face the trials of complete seclusion, the raw power of nature, and to delve deep into his own thoughts as he uncovers and confronts aspects of his complex, contentious past.’
For ten days, Philip found himself isolated on the island, with the production crew stationed a short 30-minute boat ride away, ready to assist only if a severe emergency occurred.
Phillip’s mental health and physical safety were monitored as the experience progressed.
According to a source, over the last few months, Phil has received multiple proposals for different opportunities, yet he has consistently declined each one.
He’s always been drawn towards tasks like this, and after discussing it with his close circle, he made up his mind to pursue it. Everything about it has been kept under wraps, and there’s been a swift timeline to maintain confidentiality regarding the decision.
Over the course of my four-decade career in television, I’ve had the privilege of learning valuable filming and storytelling techniques from exceptional crews and teams.
In a span of ten days without any camera teams or productions nearby, he captured stunningly authentic footage, some parts of which are quite challenging and evoke strong emotions when watched.
However, he yearned for an opportunity to present his tale candidly and truthfully, allowing the audience to perceive a different perspective of him.
Although this development is a significant achievement for Channel 5 and a considerable one for Philip, he’s not eager to return to full-time television immediately. He’s still healing from recent events and is currently using this period to carefully consider his next steps before making any significant decisions.
In May of 2023, during an appearance on This Morning, the presenter confessed to being in a romantic relationship with a significantly younger male coworker. The presenter also acknowledged that they had previously lied about this relationship.
He described their romance as ‘unwise but not illegal’ and explained it took place during his nearly 30-year marriage to Stephanie Lowe, with whom he is a parent to two children.
Later on, Schofield stepped down from This Morning and ITV, expressing his deepest apologies to Lowe for his infidelity.
Initially, accounts stated that Steph was deeply saddened upon learning the truth and felt enraged because her spouse had deceived her.

He said: ‘Attraction is attraction. It’s no different in the gay world as it is in the heterosexual world or in the lesbian world.
‘There shouldn’t be a difference. This is where homophobia comes in. We did first meet when he was 15, I visited the drama school [he attended].’
He said the fallout from his admission that he lied about his affair with a younger male colleague had been ‘relentless’, revealing he has had suicidal thoughts.
Schofield expressed: ‘My daughters were the ones who saved my life. They mentioned last week they haven’t once abandoned me. On his Instagram, the host expressed: “Since I’m no longer with This Morning, I can now speak freely about this. It appears that those with a grudge against me or the program are the ones making the most noise.
Working on This Morning is unquestionably my favorite experience, surrounded by exceptional individuals. Over the course of my employment, I’ve never encountered any toxic work environment. If you prefer, you can tune into those persistent, dynamic voices.
However, countless attendees, employees, and crew members, as well as numerous hosts and collaborators, have all come to understand that this place is home to a fantastic, gifted, compassionate, diligent, and dedicated family.
In December, an independent lawyer named Jane Mulcahy KC, was tasked by the management at ITV to conduct a thorough investigation into the long-awaited review concerning the accusations of a toxic work environment and associated scandals. The findings were published then.
One employee told the Mail of their ‘sheer bewilderment’ that only one junior worker was aware of the relationship.
2019 findings revealed that ITV didn’t conceal the relationship in question, and top management took significant steps to uncover the truth about it, which was four years prior to the public disclosure of the affair.

Mulcahy disclosed that Schofield declined involvement in the investigation concerning his exit, citing concerns for his physical well-being. Furthermore, she mentioned that his mental health has reportedly worsened since then.
Schofield’s former colleague and lover also declined to participate in the report.
However, staff at ITV have been left cross, accusing the report of being a ‘waste of time’.
