Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were joined by their mothers Pat and Linda on resurfaced All Round To Mrs Brown’s clip – as Phillip confirms her death aged 88
As I delve into the captivating tale of Pat Schofield, her indomitable spirit and zest for life truly resonate with me. From her lifelong ambition of wing walking at the ripe age of 81, to standing by her son Phillip during his brave public announcement, she is an embodiment of courage and resilience.
Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had their mothers as guests when they made a nostalgic visit to the talk show, All Round To Mrs. Brown’s.
In a different, cheerful period, the previous hosts of This Morning, who were once with Philip, made an appearance on the BBC comedy series, joining Philip’s mom Pat and Holly’s mom Linda.
The resurfaced clip comes as Phillip confirmed Pat’s death aged 88 on Monday.
The broadcaster disclosed that he embraced her, cherished her, and gave her comforting hugs as she approached her last moments before she sadly passed on.
Philip shared the heartbreaking news with his followers on Instagram tonight, informing them that his “remarkable mother” passed away following a difficult weekend.
In 2017, the previous ITV star was on All Round To Mrs Brown’s, sharing the screen with Pat, as well as Holly and Linda.
The presenters engaged in a chat with Brendan O’Carroll, portraying Mrs Brown, and his wife Jennifer Gibney during the interview.
Jennifer asked Pat and Linda: ‘Were they giddy as children?’
‘No, no,’ Pat replied before Linda added: ‘Holly was.’
Phillip then said: ‘I think I share my mother’s filthy sense of humour.’
Sixteen years ago, Patrick died, which was sixteen years following the passing of Brian, Philip’s father, at the age of 72 in 2008 due to a heart attack.
In October, the presenter reappeared tentatively on stage for Channel 5’s Cast Away program, where he survived on a secluded island for ten consecutive days without assistance.
In simpler terms, the three-part series marked Philip’s initial television appearance after parting ways with ITV and This Morning due to a romantic involvement with a younger coworker, which ended his lucrative role there.
At 3 pm this afternoon, following a very sad weekend, my wonderful mom chose to visit her cherished Brian. (or) Today at 3 pm, after a difficult weekend, my amazing mom opted to see her adored Brian. (or) This afternoon at 3 pm, my terrific mom decided to pay a visit to her beloved Brian, after a tough weekend.
‘Over three days we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said.
She exuded tranquility, grace, elegance, and a sense of nobility. It’s an honor and source of pride for me that she was my mother, a connection I shall cherish eternally.
Last year Phillip held a vigil by his mother’s hospital bedside after she fell seriously ill.
She was treated at the time for an unknown condition at a hospital in Cornwall for several days.
After her journey, Pat went back to her residence in Newquay. There, Schofield stayed by her side, offering tender care as she took time to heal.
Back then, I found myself utterly overwhelmed when TopMob shared the news that she had been hospitalized due to the emotional toll of her son Timothy’s verdict. The weight of it all was simply unbearable for her.
Timothy was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage boy.
According to our information, Philip prioritized his mother over himself even amidst his personal difficulties. He confessed to carrying on an affair with a younger coworker from “This Morning” while he was still married to Stephanie Lowe, and he also chose to hide this truth.
Phillip sought support from his mother following his high-profile exit from ITV.
In June of the previous year, he was captured on camera driving near her house, accompanied by his cousin David Schofield. This was several weeks following an incident where they (the presenter and his mother) were spotted embracing on a bench with a view of the sea in Newquay.
Since 2002, I’ve been honored to host This Morning, but recently, my personal life took a somber turn. I found myself in a seaside town, not for leisure, but to stand by my mother during a challenging time. My beloved brother, Timothy, was facing sentencing for heinous sex offenses against a young boy.
On the very same day that her youngest son received a sentence of 12 years in prison, Pat learned from her oldest child that he was going to lose his job.
As Philip was enjoying fish and chips with his mom, he got a call from his manager informing him that upper management at the channel required him to step down from the show.
Last week, during an interview, Schofield mentioned that he traveled to Cornwall to be with his mother during the sentencing proceedings.
‘And our family thing was always to buy fish and chips and go and sit on the headland.
I fetched my mother and she headed inside to grab our fish and chips; during that time, my phone started ringing.
In simpler terms, my supervisor informed me that the noise level had grown too high for ITV, causing them to ask me to leave the show “This Morning.
Upon her arrival by car, she expressed her concern, saying over the phone beforehand, “Are you bringing any troubling news?”.
She settled into the car and beamed at the sight of me. Then, she remarked, “Wow, it seems like your appearance has transformed.
‘I said, “Let’s go on to the headland”. And I had to tell her.’
Another TV insider also revealed how much the former This Morning host ‘adores’ his mother.
In my personal experience, I found myself grappling with a surprising turn of events when both my mother and brother were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just six months apart.
In terms of health awareness, he shared this: “For the past 25 years, my mother and brother have had Type 1 diabetes, making us a family well-acclimated with this condition.
‘Should either of them experience a hypoglycemic episode where their blood sugar levels fall significantly, we can identify the symptoms and take appropriate action. My mother becomes particularly disoriented during these episodes, so when she starts speaking incoherently, we understand that her blood sugar is low.’
2017 saw thrill-seeker Pat achieve a long-cherished dream, as she embarked on a wing walk to celebrate her 81st birthday. Footage of this exhilarating event was captured by Schofield and subsequently aired on ITV’s This Morning.
With a bright smile, Schofield settled onto the couch beside Holly Willoughby, playfully sharing that he considered her to be quite “completely crazy.
Holly, full of joy, remarks that she’s absolutely delighted by every moment, beaming as she soars through the sky, securely fastened atop an airplane, with Pat returning her smile and a friendly wave from below.
At that point in time, it was widely thought that Pat had the distinction of being the eldest woman in the UK to perform a loop-the-loop. Remarkably, she carried out this daring feat only a few days prior to her birthday.
Pat chose to follow the path set by her son Schofield, performing a wing walk, as a means to generate funds for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program.
On that day, The Duke of Edinburgh’s official Twitter message read: “Sending my best wishes for success to Mrs. Pat Schofield as she embarks on her wing walk today, for her DofE Challenge.
After the path taken by @schofe during his DofE Diamond Challenge last year, she is now achieving a lifelong dream by performing this thrilling wing walk. So far, she has successfully raised an impressive £1,800 for our charity.
Schofield revealed at the time to ITV viewers what his mother told him when she landed.
‘She landed and said she wanted to do the full loop… it’s just extraordinarily,’ he said.
In the year 2020, Pat openly expressed her sense of pride and admiration for her courageous and motivating son, who publicly declared he is gay during a live television broadcast.
When Schofield drove to Cornwall to his mother before his public announcement to tell her he was gay, she told him: ‘I don’t care.’
In an interview with The Mirror, she expressed that his bravery in such a public setting was truly inspiring, given the difficulty she knows he faced in doing so.
‘I love Steph and the girls more than anything in the world and I will always be there for them.
‘When Phillip drove to Cornwall to tell me, the first thing I said was, “I don’t care”.
‘Yes it was a shock, but nothing as a family that we can’t support and applaud.’
