Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp Reveal Shocking Truth About Their Relationship After Wedding Snub
Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp have shared insights into their true friendship, acknowledging that they rarely socialize beyond their professional engagements.
At Kirstie’s wedding in January, the co-hosts of Location, Location, Location faced some surprise when Phil didn’t show up.
In a hidden wedding at Mayfair’s Grosvenor Chapel with real estate mogul Ben Anderson, the celebrity’s fellow host was conspicuously missing on this special day.
It turned out later that the occasion was shrouded in such deep secrecy that even the attendees didn’t realize they were at a wedding until the very end.
Currently, Phil and Kirstie have confessed that despite being close friends for a quarter of a century, they rarely spend time together outside of their professional lives.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Kirstie admitted, “Since we spend so much time working together, we don’t often engage in social activities.

To express that thought in a personal and easy-to-understand manner as a lifestyle expert might say: “Indeed, our bond is incredibly strong. We’ve shared an extraordinary journey together, making her one of the truly valuable individuals in my life. Kirstie holds a special place among my closest confidants.
Over the course of our most pivotal experiences, these two individuals have been intertwined in each other’s lives. As Kirstie put it: ‘During the crucial phases of our lives, we’ve stood by each other’s side. I believe Phil was among the very first to learn that I was expecting.’
Earlier, Kirstie disclosed to The Mail on Sunday that due to the suddenness and secrecy of the preparations, several significant attendees, such as Phil, her longtime Channel 4 colleague, missed out on attending her wedding.
Thursday saw Ben and I getting married at The Grosvenor Chapel, a place significant to both of us as it was where my parents and grandparents tied the knot, and where we held a memorial service for my father in June,” she explained.
On Monday, we welcomed a compact circle of our nearest and dearest – friends and relatives who were just informed about our wedding then.
Initially, we had arranged a grand celebration for Ben’s birthday. Many of our guests assumed it was the occasion they were attending, and indeed, we carried out the festivities as planned. The event was filled with an abundance of food, drinks, music, and dancing. My nephews and nieces added to the joyous atmosphere by playing around energetically.
As a dedicated enthusiast of all things related to lifestyle, let me share a unique event that recently transpired. The other day, we paid tribute to love by singing “All You Need is Love,” an idea that originated from Ben. You see, I’m a fervent admirer of Richard Curtis and possess an original script from one of his masterpieces.
In anticipation of this special occasion, I acquired a stunning dress two weeks prior during the sales. The gracious team at Oscar de la Renta, assuming it was for an awards ceremony, kindly added sleeves to my sparkling gown. Quite a serendipitous turn of events!
The decorations, food arrangements, program sequence, and lighting setup were skillfully handled by colleagues I’ve collaborated with for years. They maintained the secret until they flawlessly organized an exceptional event under tight time constraints, despite this haste, some dear friends and family members like Phil couldn’t attend due to the short notice.

The Mayfair chapel holds significant ties to Kirstie’s family lineage and served as the location for a memorial service honoring her late father, Charles Allsopp, 6th Baron Hindlip, who was previously the chairman of Christie’s, in June of last year.
In the thrill of excitement, I, as an ardent admirer, found myself standing in awe at an enchanting 18th-century edifice. The air was thick with anticipation as the couple, my beloved ones, prepared to exchange their vows. Surrounded by approximately 70 of our nearest and dearest, many of whom had just learned they were attending a wedding, we created an atmosphere charged with love and joy.
Kirstie and Ben, partners for 21 years with sons Bay (18) and Oscar (16), announced a celebration of Ben’s 64th birthday, followed by an unexpected surprise.
53-year-old Allsopp graced the service with her presence, donning an exquisite gold sequin and tulle Oscar de la Renta gown that she purchased just two weeks prior.
The 40-minute celebration was filled with delight and showcased the famous Beatles song “All You Need is Love,” a tune that has been used in Richard Curtis’ film Love Actually, as well as the hymn “I Vow to Thee, My Country.
In addition to Hal and Orion, Ben’s sons from a past relationship, the couple’s own sons served as ushers for the ceremony.
The quartet was spotted at a nearby wine tavern prior to the wedding, while Bay could be found rehearsing a speech outside.
At the event were Kirstie’s sisters, Sophia Fletcher and Tasha Morley, fashion designer India Hicks, as well as her presenter relative, ex-hedge fund manager Jamie Allsopp.
