This week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, emphasized the importance of voter registration for the forthcoming US presidential election by releasing a public statement encouraging everyone to exercise their vote, stating that every individual’s opinion is crucial in the process.

Pharrell Williams might be happier if they had just kept their mouths shut.

During a conversation with the Hollywood Reporter just a day after the September 10th debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and ex-President Trump, the versatile musician expressed his frequent frustration with high-profile political endorsements by celebrities.

He mentioned that there are famous individuals he admires who express their opinions, but not every celebrity’s viewpoint is valued by him. He put it simply: “Sometimes I think, ‘Why should they talk? They shouldn’t.’ It doesn’t matter if anyone asked them or not.

Williams’ remarks corresponded with a week containing two significant Tuesdays: the initial presidential debate on one end, and National Voter Registration Day on the other.

At that point, prominent musicians such as Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish expressed their backing for the Democratic duo of Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. They encouraged their audiences – with Swift being more subtle about it, while Eilish was more direct – to also support this ticket.

“The choice is clear,” Eilish wrote Tuesday on Instagram.

Williams prefers not to engage in political messaging as he stated, “I don’t really get involved with politics.” However, it’s worth noting that he also clarified he wouldn’t support extremist right-wing candidates during elections.
