Pharrell Williams is confronted by animal rights protestors who accuse him of ‘killing animals for fashion’ at Louis Vuitton event in Paris

As an obsessed fan of Pharrell Williams, I can’t help but feel a mix of admiration and disappointment as I read about his latest encounter with animal rights protestors during his Olympics party in Paris. The image of him being confronted by PETA activists holding signs asking him to stop using animals for fashion is both shocking and saddening.

Animal rights activists confronted Pharrell Williams during his Olympics party in Paris on Thursday.

The night before the Olympics opening, a 51-year-old singer was the guest of honor at Louis Vuitton’s headquarters in France for their event.

I was deeply engrossed in my bash project when suddenly, my peaceful workspace was disrupted. Protesters from PETA stormed in, their voices loud and passionate. They brandished signs with urgent messages, imploring me to reconsider my use of animals “for fashion.” Their fervor ignited a fire within me, fueling my determination to find alternative methods for my creative expression.

As I stepped down from the balcony after delivering my speech to the crowd, I noticed two individuals standing close by, their signs bearing the message: “Pharrell, please stop using animals for fashion.”

Pharrell ignored the demonstrators and continued walking uninterrupted, with security personnel eventually leading them away.

At the event, you had Charlize Theron, Serena Williams, Snoop Dogg, and Zendaya in the audience.

Yvonne Taylor, Vice President of PETA, expressed her concern in a statement: “As Pharrell enjoys glamorous parties among celebrities, countless animals condemned by his fashion preferences endure painful lives in filthy factory farms and slaughterhouses. They are either butchered brutally or skinned alive.”

PETA urges Pharrell to take a stand against animal cruelty by persuading Louis Vuitton to abandon the outdated practice of using leather and fur in their designs.

Last year, Pharrell was appointed as the creative director for Louis Vuitton. However, his newest design, a custom-made $1 million bag crafted from crocodile hide, drew criticism from PETA due to animal rights concerns.

Lisa Lange, PETA’s US Senior Vice President, extended an invitation for him to visit a crocodile farming facility managed by PETA, allowing him to observe firsthand the living conditions of these animals before they are killed for their hides.

They proposed inviting you for a more rustic experience to visit a not-so-clean crocodile farm with them, where your “Millionaire” bag’s origin lies.

Bringing nose plugs and tall boots will be necessary if we encounter murky, polluted water during our expedition. If we visit an enclosed tank instead, remember to pack a flashlight as it will be pitch-black inside. The distinction is clear: poaching wildlife for sport is not trendy – it’s inhumane.

Previously, Pharrell spoke candidly to British GQ regarding his collaboration with Louis Vuitton. It wasn’t a formal interview session.

“The offer came as a surprise, similar to asking, ‘Would you take on this role? Would you agree to this appointment?’ I found myself staring at the water, taken aback and unsure.”

The successful record producer was surprised and modest about his recent position with Louis Vuitton, expressing: “I didn’t expect it to be me.”

I’m thrilled to announce that Pharrell is returning to the Louis Vuitton family, having worked together on projects in 2004 and 2008. Now, he takes on a new role as our Men’s Creative Director.

In simple terms, his innovative ideas go beyond the realm of fashion, making it certain that Louis Vuitton is about to embark on an intriguing and fresh phase.

Since 2017, the singer has abstained from putting out a fresh album, opting instead to engage in a new business endeavor related to fashion.
