Phantom Best Builds, Teams, and How to PlayPhantom Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

Overview

  • Comparable damage to Scarlet However harder to buff/has less team buffers. Can outclass Scarlet in some teams in boss battles
  • A lot of self-buffs with a Modest normal Attack Modifier. This makes her kit self contained (Not too reliant on buffers) but Meta supporters that give ATK damage up is less effective on her compared to other Nikkes.
  • Can do well in Campaign but is very manual intensive, toxic even (what were they thinking)
  • Can hit cores well in certain teams (Alice:Wonderland Bunny) Similar to Quency: Escape Queen, but her core hits are weaker and not as impactful.
  • Her distributed damage is weak in PvP due to needing raptures to proc skills, not targets
  • Best Girl competitor

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Nikke Phantom seems like a formidable addition to any team. The rating system paints a clear picture – an 8.6 overall PvE performance is nothing to sneeze at!

A Phantom is an effective choice as a starting Commander for PvE battles, delivering solid damage. Her versatile skill set, which lacks significant vulnerabilities, makes her capable of performing well even in the absence of high-end support characters (meta buffers).

At maximum investment, Phantom is among a small number of Augmented Reality (AR) characters who can partially leverage the damage bonuses from her class doll/Naga core, thanks to her hit rate enhancements.

Phantom is quite skill-intensive; players need to enhance several abilities to deal damage comparable to Scarlet. She’s an excellent choice for your wish list since there aren’t many high-priority damage dealers (DPS) in Elysion currently.

Skills

Phantom Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

Skill 1: Thief’s Calling Card

Triggers when you strike a Rapture with a regular attack, as long as it’s not marked on your Calling Card. This action impacts the target.

Rather long skill description, but it’s very straight forward.

This ability permanently reduces defense and increases self attack damage for any target it hits. The defense reduction is approximately 10% of the attacking unit’s ATK in equal-level scenarios like Solo Raids, Challenges, Sim Rooms overclocked, and so on.

The maximum boost Phantom’s Hit rate can receive is limited to 51%, unlike the potential 76%. This reduction occurs because the stacks reset when they are fully stacked. In most boss encounters, you will typically encounter just one stack (equivalent to a 25% Hit rate increase) as there is usually only one target to attack.

Fortunately, even with a 25% base hit rate, Phantom manages to land core hits from a distance fairly consistently (around 60% for core hits and above) thanks to the boost of 4x Hit Rate (level 11+/44% total) on my overload gear or 3x Hit Rate (33%) combined with Alice: Wonderland Bunny, making use of manual aim. For close-to-mid ranges, I need around 2-3 times the hit rate (22-33%).

Boosting her accuracy rate significantly calls for a substantial investment and a touch of luck, but it represents a major advancement in terms of dealing damage. This is especially true if Phantom has an AR doll (which adds 10%-17% more core damage), or when she’s teamed up with Naga (offering a 125% increase in core damage).

Skill 2: Thief’s Vision

The ability becomes active when the Thief’s Dagger reaches its maximum charge. This effect targets the character (yourself) once the charges are depleted. It deals an additional 84.33% of your final Attack Power as damage. After the effect is triggered, the Calling Card status is removed.

A noteworthy aspect of her equipment set is often referred to as the “Magical” (Toxic) portion. Under ideal circumstances, she could potentially inflict more damage than Scarlet: Black Shadow, given that there are three raptures and all targets remain unharmed. However, such a scenario is highly unlikely in boss fights or even Campaign battles.

Short Nerd Math (Phantom Theoretical Peak DPS vs SBS)

Scarlet: Black Shadow can hit 17 times per full burst when paired with Alice

During a burst, the multiplier for her burst damage rotation is equal to 1500% increased by her ATK boost (2.15), then divided by 3 (number of targets). Simplifying this further, since a full burst consists of six rotations, and each rotation’s damage is multiplied by 6, the total damage per target per full burst becomes 1075% (initial multiplier) times 6 (number of rotations), which equals approximately 6,450%. This means that for every target hit during a single burst, she inflicts about 6,450% of her original attack power as damage.

Phantom:

3 shots fired every second, with a skill activation causing 4 additional shots, and this happening approximately 84% of the time. Each shot is enhanced by 1.85 times the base attack power, and the damage from each shot is further increased by 1.75 times. This sequence lasts for 10 seconds in total, resulting in a total damage output of about 8,158% on a single target over the entire burst period.

Instead of a skill procing with three bullets, I increased it to four, since each bullet must strike the target twice for the character’s 75% Attack Damage Buff to activate.

If you prefer the optimal experience in your gameplay during your quest to conquer the water element weak campaign stages, here’s a new approach to tackle the raptures:

Keep in mind that this ability may not excel in inflicting HIGH SINGLE TARGET DAMAGE against some teams, as its skill 2 is not designed for direct hits. Instead, it fires fewer bullets at a target, providing a more scattered approach rather than a consistent barrage. For rapid destruction of a single target, it’s advisable to prioritize using the rapture if the Commander aims to eliminate that specific target quickly.

Burst: Secret Trick: Rampage of Thieves

Affects all enemies.
Deals 1457.28% of final ATK as Distributed Damage

Phantom’s Burst has a slightly lower damaging impact than that of Quency: Escape Queen, and the burst attack of Quency: Escape Queen can inflict greater damage compared to Dorothy’s Burst, which is known for its substantial force.

This is a result of the synergistic effect between several boosts she has, where one buff amplifies another (Increased Attack multiplied by Increased Attack Damage, and then further increased by Distributed Damage).

It turns out that this ability doesn’t function effectively in Player versus Player scenarios because it targets Raptures instead of any random enemy.

Distributed Damage Explained

Distributed Damage” refers to damage that’s evenly spread across ruptures on the screen. A skill with this type of damage will cause less harm to each rupture as the number of ruptures on the screen increases.

In a battle scenario, when I unleash my skill and there are ten raptures on screen, each rapture will absorb one-tenth of the total ATK damage the skill inflicts (since the skill does 1000% of ATK, that translates to 100% per rapture). It’s a powerful tool against bosses due to their singular nature, but it becomes apparent in Campaign mode that this approach isn’t as effective when dealing with multiple targets.

Campaign

Phantom performs well in a Campaign setting, but can be problematic when playing. She’s capable of inflicting the same damage as Scarlet’s auto attacks and also dealing area-of-effect (AoE) damage through her skill 2 or burst.

If a player can regularly strike the game’s Rapture core or has teammates with core damage buffers, then her second skill may not significantly speed up boss killing since it only works when directly striking the boss core. This is because her second skill is designed to damage the boss core, but if you’re not consistently hitting the boss, it won’t have an effect.

In the game’s story mode, Phantom should find it simpler to attack the cores. This is because the Commander has the ability to double-equip the Thief’s dagger, thereby increasing Phantom’s hit rate. Once the boss or elites are weakened, Phantom can deliver a powerful burst attack. If more power is required, this setup can be repeated. However, keep in mind that the hit rate bonus only lasts for 5 seconds. Additionally, stacking more than two daggers will simply reset the bonuses.

Phantom Best in Slot Team

Liter,Crown,Phantom,Red Hood,Naga

Summary, 6/10 Campaign Clearing

Phantom needs approximately twice as many hits or three times the hit rate, and two full stacks of its Skill 1, to reliably strike cores from any distance.

Lowering the hit rate requirement can be achieved by teaming up with Modernia or using hit rate cushions. Yet, it’s advisable to avoid using hit rate buffers that are not part of the Modernia system.

The Phantom character is mainly designed for taking down Bosses, but she also has area-of-effect (AoE) abilities. Unlike some characters who excel at burst damage, the Phantom can dish out significant damage consistently, which makes her a great fit with characters like Red Hood, Alice, Maxwell, Ludmilla:Winter Owner, Quency:Escape Queen and others who rely on burst damage.

Offensive Supports (B2)

  • Centi – Burst generator (If needed)

In some battles, burst generators might not be essential. Feel free to choose any of your favorite Damage Per Second (DPS) units instead, as long as your commander doesn’t already have Alice or Red Hood.

Skill Investments / Heavy Investment / Doll Priority

Assume All skills of team members are at least 5/5/5.

  • Mid Game: Red Hood 7/7/7 -> Crown 7/7/7-> Phantom 7/7/5 -> Naga 7/5/5 -> Liter 7/5/7
  • Late Game: Red Hood 10/10/10 -> Crown 10/10/10-> Phantom 10/10/7 -> Naga 10/7/5 -> Liter 10/5/10

Doll Priority

Red Hood -> Phantom -> Crown (Not Recommended) -> Naga (Not Recommended) -> Liter (Not Recommended)

Arena

Phantom’s Burst packs a strong punch, yet it falls short of instantly defeating entire teams. Regrettably, this singular strength doesn’t make Phantom an ideal choice for Player versus Player (PvP) matches, as she lacks the ability to generate burst or provide support in any way.

Special Interception | Solo Raid | Union Raid

Special Interception

Phantom is versatile and effective against any interception bosses, particularly Chatterbox and Blacksmith (Water weak). She’s a great choice for players who might be missing top-tier supports, as she has all the necessary buffs built into her own kit. In terms of damage output, Phantom holds her own compared to Scarlet. However, Phantom excels against two specific bosses due to her elemental advantage, making her a superior option to Scarlet in those instances.

Anomaly (Harvester)

Using Phantom in Anomaly Harvester is a wise choice, but she falls short of being Best-in-Slot compared to Quency: Escape Queen and Ludmilla: Winter Owner when it comes to dealing damage. However, since Ludmilla: Winter Owner is a seasonal character, Phantom becomes the ideal alternative.

Head Break Team (BiS Bossing Team)

Liter,Crown,Phantom,Quency: Escape Queen,Naga

If the Commander’s damage per second (DPS) isn’t enough to penetrate the core of the enemy unit at the outset, then it may be advantageous to opt for piercing strategies instead. Piercing Nikkes are capable of dealing double damage to the enemy’s core, specifically its head.

Pierce Nikkes

Asuka,Alice,Red Hood,Maxwell,Snow White

Solo Raid | Union Raid

In simpler terms, you’ll only get to use Phantom effectively during water-weak solo battles or Union raids if it’s well-invested. Compared to Scarlet, Phantom might have a higher personal Damage Per Second (DPS), but Scarlet excels in providing top-notch support, while Phantom lacks this specific feature.

In its current state, Phantom doesn’t make it into the top 5 single-player raid teams when the Commander has a fully assembled team. However, this could potentially shift if new water support units are introduced down the line.

Water Weak Solo Raid

Liter,Tia,Phantom,Ludmilla: Winter Owner,Naga

This Water team may not be top-tier, but it’s still playable if your character doesn’t have Quency: Escape Queen. However, Phantom requires a decent hit rate to excel with this team, or else the Commander would be better off using Tia/Naga for teams that can deliver a powerful core hit.

Neutral Element Solo Raid (Blanc Variant)

Asuka,Rogue,Phantom,Blanc,Modernia

If Rei Ayanami is accessible for the team, it would provide a higher damage output. However, since this guide focuses on Phantom, she’s featured instead.

Neutral Element Raid (Alice: Bunny Variant)

Liter,Alice: Wonderland Bunny,Phantom,Ludmilla: Winter owner,supporter

In simpler terms, Alice Wonderland’s Rabbit assists Phantom by increasing the number of his distributed damage instances and his accuracy rate, all while ensuring the team remains unharmed. It’s a cost-effective choice for solo raids that doesn’t deprive other teams of their top-tier supporters.

Flex Supporters can be Rosanna: Ocean Chicc or Novel. Replace Liter with any CDR if needed.

Strengths

  • Single target damage comparable to Scarlet
  • Phantom has hit rate buffs high enough to be able to take advantage of core hit buffs, which include AR dolls and Naga which is great in Campaign and boss battles
  • All of her needed buffs are in her kit, which doesn’t make her dependent on buffers
  • Almost Elysion Tower Savior
  • Hot + Ara Ara + Magic ✨ = Waifu

Weaknesses

  • Hit-Rate Hungry and skill book hungry
  • Harder to buff with ATK supporters, and ATK damage supporters, which is what brings her down mostly from being a high-tier. High Normal Attack modifiers are rather important or Insane bursts.
  • Can magically conjure ammo, but not magically conjure advanced recruit Tickets
  • SSS tier Design, S tier Nikke

Should You Pull?

She requires significant funding to operate effectively, but she’s not typically a leading figure across all game modes. However, in the Elysion Tower game mode, she shines brightly ✨.

Despite Phantom being an exceptional waifu with a charming Ara Ara voice, I’m frustrated that she’s just decent. Now, let me express my concerns and hope for improvements. I’ll be keeping an eye out for her in future updates or anniversaries.
