PGL reveals qualifier dates and schedule for Bucharest event

2025 sees a busy itinerary for PGL, with their upcoming event being PGL Bucharest, set to begin in just a few weeks. Additional details have been unveiled regarding the top-tier tournament happening in April.
PGL Bucharest Qualifier details
The PGL Bucharest 2025 tournament begins on April 6 and concludes a week later on April 13, 2025. This event boasts an impressive prize pool of $1.25 million and is expected to host some of the most prominent teams in the industry.

PGL Bucharest Closed Qualifier Schedule
Successful squads from the initial rounds (open qualifiers) will progress to the following stages, known as the Closed Qualifiers. These qualifiers occur in two distinct phases:
1. The first phase spans a duration of four consecutive days.
2. In contrast, the second phase lasts just two days.
Europe, North America, South America:
- Closed Qualifier Round 1: February 28 – March 3
- Closed Qualifier Round 2: March 7-8
Asian Closed Qualifier (MESA Asian Masters):
- Closed Qualifier Round 1: February 24-27
- Closed Qualifier Round 2 (LAN – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia): March 6-9
At the PGL Bucharest 2025, sixteen teams will participate in the competition. This tournament consists of two phases: the Group Stage and the Playoffs. In the Group Stage, which uses a Swiss System format involving all sixteen teams, each match is played as a best-of-three series. The top eight teams from this stage will advance to the Playoffs. During the Playoffs, there will be a single-elimination bracket in place. With the exception of the Grand Finals, all matches are still best-of-three. However, the Grand Finals will consist of a best-of-five series.
Previously this past month, PGL revealed their lineup of tournaments scheduled for the year 2027. With additional tournament organizers entering the competition, the Counter-Strike esports landscape promises to be significantly more lively and colorful as we move forward.
