Peter Kay had to cancel and reschedule a couple of his future performances because he recently had a procedure to treat kidney stones.
On Monday, the comedian’s team posted a health update to Instagram, stating that doctors had recommended Peter “rest and recover”.
Peter, age 52, has achieved a historic run with his current tour, now entering its third year. Unfortunately, he will no longer be performing at the Nottingham Motorpoint Arena.
We are sorry to announce that Peter needs a routine medical procedure to address a kidney stone, and as a result, he won’t be able to perform his shows at the Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, October 5th, and Monday, October 6th.
‘Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover.
The shows have been moved to new dates:
Sunday, October 5th is now Thursday, December 11th.
Monday, October 6th is now Friday, December 12th.

Just wanted to let you know that your tickets are still good for the rescheduled dates! I know things change, so if you can’t make it anymore, don’t worry – you can get a refund from wherever you originally bought them. We want to make this as easy as possible for everyone, and more details on refunds are available here.
‘We thank you for your patience and understanding.’
More than 10% of people experience kidney stones, typically between the ages of 30 and 60. These stones develop when waste products in the blood create crystals. Gradually, these crystals accumulate and harden, forming a solid, stone-like mass. It’s a common condition, but understanding how it happens is key.
After a kidney stone develops, your body attempts to eliminate it through urine. The majority of these stones are small enough to pass on their own and can be treated at home.
Oh my gosh, when these little guys get really big, it’s just awful! They can become so incredibly painful, and honestly, most of the time you end up needing surgery to finally get rid of them. It’s heartbreaking, but sometimes it’s the only way to feel better. I just wish there was something else!
Prior to revealing details of the upcoming tour, Peter had withdrawn from public appearances. He then issued a statement in December 2017, announcing his return to the public eye.
In November 2022, Peter excited fans across the country by sharing that he would be touring again after a 12-year break. This included a regular monthly performance at the O2 Arena in London.
On his first night performing in Manchester, Peter became emotional and began to cry when the audience gave him a long, enthusiastic standing ovation that went on for several minutes.

Visibly shaken by the audience’s response, Peter stammered, ‘Oh my goodness, look at me, I mean, what was that all about… how can I possibly do comedy now?’
‘Lovely Manchester you made me cry… where did it come from, all that emotion?’
This statement follows Peter’s revelation that he dedicated the first 48 years of his life to weight loss, which he shared during a candid personal interview. He described the shameful moment he realized he was struggling with binge eating.
Fans were surprised to see the comedian return to public life in 2024 after a five-year break, and he appeared significantly slimmer than before.
During a recent In Conversation With… event led by Sara Cox at The Lowry theatre in Salford, Peter spoke publicly for the first time about his weight loss journey.
When directly asked if he’d ever tried to lose weight, he replied: ‘Only for the first 48 years of my life. Yeah, I eventually had to, because you start to consider your health and things like that, don’t you?‘
I really did try every option available. Honestly, I even went to weight-loss groups and things of that nature. I participated in both Slimming World and WeightWatchers. I truly tried all of them.
He also thought about the specific instance that helped him understand he was struggling with binge eating. This happened after he secretly left the movie theater while watching a film with his wife, Susan.

Peter described how he lied about going to the toilet only to leave the screening to eat a hotdog.
He told The Sun: ‘I was making great progress with my diet, but I really struggle with self-control. I gave in and had a hotdog, and then I saw my reflection in – quite ironically – a framed poster for Babe.’
I remember thinking to myself, ‘Wow, look at how far you’ve come – you’re actually succeeding!’ It felt strange, but I almost felt like I should be disappointed in my own progress. It was like, ‘You’re doing so well on this diet, it’s almost… wrong!’ I know it sounds silly, but it was a genuine reaction. It was a weird feeling of being successful and questioning it at the same time.
He mentioned that while tossing it in the trash, he quickly snatched it back just before it touched the bag, and then he went ahead and ate it anyway.
Peter explained that his unhealthy eating began in childhood – his mother used to bring him pies to eat at primary school. He said this habit continued from then on.
