It’s been so tough hearing about Peter Andre’s mum. As a longtime fan, I was really saddened to learn she was diagnosed with both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s last year. It’s just heartbreaking to think of what they’re all going through.
The 52-year-old singer posted a sweet video to Instagram on Monday showing his 19-month-old daughter, Belle, chatting with her grandfather, Savvas, on FaceTime.
Peter shared in the video’s description that his 89-year-old mother, Thea, who lives in Australia, has lost the ability to speak.
He shared that, regardless of life’s challenges, moments like these are incredibly special to him. It’s particularly poignant now that his mother is unable to speak.
Belle has a lovely daily chat with her grandfather, or ‘Bapou’ as she calls him, and it’s clear they have a very special bond. It always warms my heart to see.
She’s lucky to see her grandmother, or ‘yiayia’ as they say in Greek, every day, but it’s heartbreaking to watch her Parkinson’s worsen. I truly treasure all the time I spend with my parents and my kids.

Parkinson’s disease is a gradual condition that affects how you move. It happens when the nerve cells in the brain that make dopamine start to die off. This can lead to symptoms such as shaking, slow movement, stiff muscles, and problems with balance.
Peter recently shared his concern that his mother might not have many Christmases left. He’s planning a trip to Australia with his wife, Emily, and their five children to visit his parents soon.
Seeing my dad, who is 92, with my mom every day is wonderful. He’s starting to become frail, and his memory isn’t what it used to be. But I’m so thankful they reached their 70th wedding anniversary in September – it’s a milestone I’d always hoped for.
It’s a deeply painful experience. Even as an adult, I struggle to come to terms with bad things happening to those closest to me.
Peter shared that his parents, Savvas and his wife, received a letter from the King after marking their 70th wedding anniversary.
Peter shared that they’d received a lovely letter from the King. Even though his mother can barely speak anymore, he’s sure the news will cheer her up, knowing how much love and support they’ve received.
In May, Peter shared a touching video of him saying goodbye to his mother, Thea, in Australia before returning to the UK.

In the video, Peter’s mother gently touches his face while trying to talk to him.
He shared a post saying that spending time with his mother is the best part of any trip. He wasn’t sure what she was saying in the moment, but he noted that words aren’t always necessary. He also promised to return soon.
‘I love her so much, I pray she knows that. I also love Australia. But back to my babies now.’
Elsewhere in the interview, the couple talked about their Christmas plans.
Peter spent Christmas at home with his children: Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, from his previous marriage to Katie Price, along with his younger children, Theo, eight, Millie, 11, and Arabella, who is 20 months old.
This year, instead of their usual Christmas dinner at home, the family went to a pub after they’d finished opening presents from stockings made from old tights.
Junior’s girlfriend Jasmine, 25, also spent the festive day with the family.
