Pete Wicks has revealed the very surprising career he had before finding fame on reality TV.

37-year-old TV personality gained popularity after becoming a cast member of The Only Way Is Essex in 2015. He generated significant plotlines due to his tumultuous love life and intricate friendships.

Following his departure from the show in 2023, Pete immersed himself in significant ventures including Celebs Go Dating, Celebrity SAS, and launched a podcast titled “Staying Relevant” alongside his close friend Sam Thompson.

Prior to his thriving television career, Pete shared with Paul C Brunson during their We Need To Talk podcast that he held a position in a corporation.

He shared that he transitioned into the role of an accountant at some point. At age 15, he made his mother take him around and submit his resume in different places. Eventually, he took on the job and developed a dislike for it.

Additionally, there was an acquaintance who ran a staffing agency. In London, I found myself, dressed in formal attire, and surprisingly felt comfortable in this new environment. As I approached my mid-twenties, I started making a decent income from it.

In a separate part of the interview, Pete openly disclosed that he faced daily death threats and was even spat upon in public streets, following the revelation that he had been unfaithful to his former girlfriend, Megan McKenna, back in 2016.

In a major plot development for The Only Way Is Essex, their stormy romance became a central theme following the disclosure that he had been unfaithful to her.

37-year-old television personality, now on friendly terms with Megan (age 32), discussed the intense hostility he encountered following their split.

Previously, Megan expressed that “TOWIE” (The Only Way is Essex) was among the most unhappy periods in her life.

After a long absence from reality TV, Pete shared with Paul C Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast that he had never encountered anything quite like that experience, which turned out to be much more difficult for him to reflect upon in hindsight due to the fact that he was going through a highly publicized breakup with Megan at the time.

I faced daily threats of violence, encountered individuals who spat at me on the street, and received disturbing videos showing dolls suspended from trees, which were later set ablaze.

‘I had a lot at the time, I felt like I was a national hate figure, like public enemy number one.

At that moment, my primary concern was Megan and the reality that I’d lost her and hurt her feelings. The guilt I felt was immense, overwhelmingly so.

However, despite the additional responsibilities, I found myself scattered and disorganized, but it is what it is. The frustrating part is when others argue, “If one is under public scrutiny, they voluntarily subject themselves to such situations.

In essence, by doing so, I open up opportunities for others to form their own perceptions and express their opinions about me.

I received death threats on Strictly, despite the fact that I was still competing while more skilled dancers were eliminated. Frankly, I believe no one should ever receive death threats, and it just seems absurd to me.

Allow me to clarify, I acknowledge my mistake wholeheartedly, and I have never shied away from admitting it. However, the issue at hand was a personal matter between myself and Megan.

I never intended for her harm, but clearly, I caused some pain. Yet, the response and benefits that followed left me speechless; I found myself at a loss about how to proceed.

That incident has left me quite cautious; it’s made me apprehensive about people and has pushed me towards a more secluded lifestyle. It was then I understood that there are actually two versions of myself – the private self, and the self that is very much in the public eye.

Pete finally discussed his feelings for Maura Higgins in the emotional interview.

Pete admitted that his connection with Maura has grown deeper lately, stating, “We’ve been spending a lot more time together compared to earlier.

Pete, who began seeing Maura in August, mentioned, “Maura and I have been acquainted for quite a while now, around six years. We share the same kind of humor, she’s incredibly smart, which I believe is not always apparent to others when it comes to Maura.

She’s exceptionally clever, and over the past six years, regardless of the physical distance, we’ve always managed to maintain a friendship and support each other. However, this dynamic has taken on a new meaning recently.

We’re spending significantly more time together now compared to before. I genuinely believe she’s an extraordinary individual. She offered remarkable support during my time on Strictly Come Dancing, and I reciprocated that same level of support when she was in the jungle.

My interaction with her is characterized by the fact that I admire her greatly, and I sincerely hope she feels positively about me as well.

‘Are you great together?’, Paul asked.

Pete humorously remarked: “Ah, I can tell the direction this conversation’s heading with Paul, it’s quite cleverly done. As for me and Maura, well, as I mentioned earlier, we’ve been friends for quite a while and we’ve always managed to get along just fine.

As a dedicated follower, I’ve found myself spending significantly more quality time with someone who was previously not as present in my life, much like how I’ve come to know her, it’s clear that this is a change for the better.

It’s really enjoyable when I’m with both people and Maura. We share so many common traits, making her an excellent companion to hang out with, and yes, we do often spend quality time together.

He mentioned: “Currently, I find myself in a new phase of life where factors such as my personal relationships and the associated drama and reality backdrop are no longer significant aspects of my focus.

As an ardent admirer, I’ve been open about my past, grateful for every experience, but now, it’s time for a more intimate and exposed chapter in my life. This transition compels me to present a refined version of myself, necessitating a protective shield around this new persona. I no longer feel the compulsion to reveal all aspects of myself to everyone.
