Pete Doherty Rocks Stage with Dog as Diabetes Health Scare Looms

On Saturday evening, Pete Doherty performed at the Electric Ballroom nightclub in London accompanied by his cherished canine companion.

45-year-old lead vocalist of The Libertines has disclosed that due to a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes last year, there’s a possibility he may need to undergo toe amputation.

Despite facing health issues, Pete didn’t allow them to hinder him. Instead, he put on an outstanding show for a huge audience at the renowned Camden venue.

For the performance, the British performer presented a stylish yet relaxed appearance, donning a striped beige shirt and well-fitted gray slacks.

He completed his look with a classic fedora and appeared in high spirits as he strummed his guitar.

Pete invited his cherished dog Gladys onstage with him, where she lent her loving presence to the esteemed performer during the concert.

His recent show followed Pete’s disclosure about the health advisement he got from physicians, given his persistent struggle with Type 2 diabetes.

A video acquired by The Sun from his performance in Munich, Germany, showed Pete sharing some personal health news with his audience.

He mentioned that he visited a doctor today, who advised that it would be best for you to avoid walking around too much if possible, or else there’s a risk of losing your toes.

People with Type 2 diabetes face an increased likelihood of various health complications, among them foot and lower limb amputations.

This past spring, Pete made official his condition of having a long-term illness, stating: “I’ve been identified as having type 2 diabetes. Currently, I’m struggling with the self-control needed to manage my cholesterol levels.

Pete, who previously struggled with drug addiction under media scrutiny, decided to quit the main harmful substances following a serious health warning from his physician.

In conversation with The Guardian’s Saturday Magazine, he shared that he stopped consuming harmful substances, and as a result, his overall health noticeably improved.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share this revelation that struck me recently: They say substances like alcohol, cheese, and sugar are equally detrimental to health, implying that my past self was healthier when I was using heroin. It’s mind-boggling, isn’t it? Here I was thinking these common indulgences were harmless, only to find out they might have been just as harmful as the path I once walked.

Later, he acknowledged his tendency towards overeating, stating openly: “I’m not joking. I have type 2 diabetes and currently lack the self-control to manage my cholesterol levels.

Earlier, the star shared with the Evening Standard that his physician advised him to switch his diet right away.

He shared with the media outlet that he had consulted a liver specialist who advised him to modify his diet due to excessive consumption of cheese and milk.

However, despite the health concerns about cholesterol and diabetes, I continue to stay because of the exceptional cheese. It’s become a matter of medication now, as tablets help manage it significantly.

2021 saw Pete announcing that he’d given up drugs and instead, he was relishing cheese on toast and extended sleep-ins following six consecutive sleepless nights from his most reckless days, which were filled with partying.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m delighted to share my current lifestyle preferences. I’ve developed a fondness for the rich, nutty flavor of Comté cheese, particularly when it’s melted atop toast. Indulging in simple pleasures like this truly brightens my day. When it comes to my guilty pleasure, there’s nothing quite like a long, restful sleep to rejuvenate my body and mind.

For a long time, I used to pull all-nighters lasting about five to six days straight, followed by sleeping an entire day. As a result, I developed a deep affection for sleep. Currently, my lifestyle is much healthier as I’ve quit using heroin and ketamine.

He mentioned: “I enjoy tinkering, creating beverages by blending champagne, a touch of rum, and orange juice. It might seem I have a penchant for alcohol, but I don’t – I appreciate a good glass of water as well.

Previously, Pete made it clear to documentary-maker Louis Theroux that he considered himself a seriously ill individual, as depicted in the Louis Theroux Interviews series.

Because of his past choices, the musician openly stated that he doubts he’ll have a long life ahead and expressed that death seems imminent for him.

For the past three years, he’s managed to stay away from heavy narcotics, yet he admitted to drinking alcohol and was caught on camera taking sips of rum and continuously puffing cigarettes during an interview with Theroux.

For a few years now, Pete and his family – his wife Katia de Vidas, as well as their daughter Billie-May – have settled in France. It appears that he’s been thriving with the new rhythm of life.

Apart from Billie-May who is only 21 months old, Pete is a father to two other children as well. One of them is Astile, aged 21, from his previous relationship with Lisa Moorish. Additionally, he shares daughter Aisling, aged 13, with model Lindi Hingston.
