Pete Davidson is at a facility for mental health treatment as stand-up shows are canceled
As a film enthusiast with a keen eye for the personal lives of artists, I find myself constantly moved by the raw vulnerability and resilience that Pete Davidson showcases, both on stage and off. His battles with mental health and addiction are heart-wrenching, yet his unwavering commitment to seeking help and bettering himself is truly inspiring.
After wrapping up several shows during his Prehab tour, Pete Davidson has decided to step away from performing for a while.
A former cast member from “Saturday Night Live” has sought help at a health retreat focusing on mental well-being, according to reports made by People on Wednesday.
For Davidson, mental health has consistently held great importance; this is according to a source who spoke to the outlet. It’s been reported that for the last year, the comedian has been dedicating significant efforts towards maintaining his sobriety – an aspect he often addresses in his stand-up performances.
“Davidson mentioned in September while performing alongside John Mulaney and Jon Stewart, ‘I’ve just left rehab, folks.’ He added with a smile, ‘I’ve got the radiance of a fresh rehab graduate. This is my seventh time; I guess it’s true what they say, the charm never fades!'”
As a long-time fan of comedy, I was looking forward to seeing Davidson perform at the venues in Florida and New Jersey. However, I was disappointed to learn that his upcoming shows have been canceled due to “scheduling conflicts.” Given my busy schedule as a working mom and juggling multiple roles in life, I can relate to the challenges of managing schedules. It’s frustrating when things don’t go as planned, especially when it comes to entertainment and leisure activities that provide a much-needed break from daily stresses. Hopefully, Davidson will reschedule his shows soon so I can catch him live in action.
Representatives for Davidson did not reply immediately Wednesday to The Times’ request for comment.
Last summer, Davidson received treatment to handle problems linked with post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder, as People magazine stated. At that point, a source conveyed to the publication, “Pete frequently admits himself into rehab for addressing these issues. During this period, his friends and family have been encouraging and supportive.”
Since the age of 9, the star of “Bodies Bodies Bodies” has spent time in and out of mental health institutions. However, medication has played a crucial role in bringing stability to his life. (This version aims to convey the original message in a more conversational and less formal tone.)
In a candid confession, I’ve found the past couple of years incredibly challenging. Yet, I’ve chosen to invest in my wellbeing, diving deep into mental health education and dedicating substantial time to self-improvement.
Previously, Davidson was accused of reckless driving following an incident where he collided a vehicle into a residence in Beverly Hills. The Los Angeles Superior Court then mandated him to finish a 18-month diversion plan, consisting of 50 hours of public service work.
Last week, he finished a 50-hour stint at Lenox Hill Neurosurgery in New York City, a hospital where his sister is a physician assistant, according to the Daily Mail.
Davidson completed the program ahead of schedule, and on July 18th, his minor criminal charge was dropped, according to Rolling Stone.
“In a playful manner, he exclaimed ‘Yippee, I suppose!’ during my July 20th concert in Atlantic City, NJ, as reported by the Daily Mail. However, it wasn’t something worthy of cheers. It was merely an action I regretted, not exactly something to be celebrated.”
Towards the end of the program, Davidson admitted to the audience that although he had given up “cocaine and ketamine,” he was still smoking marijuana: “I’m hanging on for a bit more.”
