SEGA and ATLUS have released *Persona 5: The Phantom X*, a brand new action RPG with turn-based combat set in an alternate timeline following the original *Persona 5*. A new update, version 2.1, adds a summery beachside experience filled with story content, special events, and a powerful new playable character. It’s like a dream summer vacation combined with the strategic battles fans love!
Persona 5: The Phantom X version 2.1: Events Overview
Running until October 8th, 2025, the new event sets us on a seaside school trip filled with:
- Beach Mystery & Summer Festival: Limited battles where using certain characters boosts rewards.
- Shooting Challenge: A surprisingly fun pirate-shooting mini-game with Rare Seashells, Meta Jewels, and unlockable support characters.

- Summer Memories: Side stories with Motoha, Riko, and Lufel, extending until October 22nd, 2025. Finishing them unlocks an invite to the Fireworks Festival.
- Fireworks Festival: Craft colorful displays using Fireworks Shells, honestly, one of the most “Persona-flavored” summer activities they could’ve added.
Honestly, this event doesn’t feel like pointless fluff. It really nails that summer festival atmosphere, and the best part is, you actually get some good stuff for participating. It’s not just window dressing – there are worthwhile rewards!
Tropical Motoha steals the show
The biggest addition in this update is definitely 5-Star Tropical Motoha. She’s a complete new character – a fully developed Phantom Thief, not just a costume. She excels as a powerful unit with the Bless attribute, and her strength increases as she recovers HP. Her third skill is a massive area-of-effect attack that also activates Summer Hype, which boosts all her abilities, allowing for incredible combinations.
More Than Just Battles
The best part of this update is how well it mixes exciting battles with relaxing moments. The Persona series has always been great at combining everyday life with dungeon exploration, and this update – especially the Summer Memories and Fireworks Festival events – really captures that feeling. It reminds me of the classic Persona school trip storylines, but with the fun addition of making fireworks with my teammates!
Persona 5: The Phantom X version 2.1 is really hitting its stride, blending fast-paced combat with stories that change with the seasons – it truly feels like a classic Persona experience. The beachside location, fun in-game happenings, and the new character Tropical Motoha make this update particularly engaging. If you’ve been considering trying The Phantom X, now is a great time to start!
