Perry Farrell is getting medical care after Jane’s Addiction concert brawl, wife says
As a seasoned concert-goer who has witnessed the raw energy of Jane’s Addiction for decades, I must say this recent turn of events has left me both saddened and intrigued. The onstage brawl between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro was not what any fan would have hoped for during their reunion tour.
Perry Farrell, the lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, is undergoing medical care and taking time for introspection and recovery following a physical altercation on stage with Dave Navarro.
On Instagram Sunday, Etty Lau Farrell shared that she and her husband, Farrell (aged 65), are making strides towards recovery following their viral altercation. To aid in this process, Farrell has booked consultations with both a neurologist and an otolaryngologist. The latter is a specialist who focuses on disorders and health issues concerning the head and neck, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.
Lau Farrell added, ‘Since you’re familiar with Perry, you don’t require further explanation from me about the inaccurate stories. We’ve got a connection that goes beyond words.’
In the middle of this month, Jane’s Addiction abruptly ended their reunion tour prematurely following an on-stage altercation between band members Farrell and Navarro that resulted in their Boston show on September 13th being cut short unexpectedly, as reported by TMZ. A video published by TMZ shows Farrell pushing Navarro, after which a fight ensued, with the stage crew intervening to separate the musicians.
In a collective announcement, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins, and Navarro explained that the decision was made because of a persistent pattern in their bandmate’s behavior and struggles with mental health issues. They expressed worry about his well-being and safety, as well as their own, which left them with no other choice.
Prior to the tour being called off, Lau Farrell had expressed her viewpoint regarding the altercation, claiming that after the fight, Avery allegedly put Perry in a headlock and struck him three times in the abdomen. She stated that she broke down following the incident and cried profusely. In Sunday’s statement, she referred to her husband, the singer, as “the gentlest of souls” and expressed equal shock, just like the fans, at Perry’s physical outburst.
She mentioned that Perry was undeniably under immense pressure, she explained. Then, she extended an apology to the fans and also showed hopefulness about his husband’s well-being recovery.
Lau Farrell stated, ‘He’ll find happiness once more. He’ll regain the ability to express his music, ideas, and creativity – freely.’ Don’t underestimate it, when he’s prepared, he’ll leap over hurdles again, making us laugh, ponder, and collaborate in changing the world.
Despite tensions, Jane’s Addiction released its latest single, “True Love,” last week.
