Perrie Edwards reveals what being a solo artist it REALLY like as she candidly admits to the highs and lows of life outside of Little Mix

As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in the music industry, I must say that Perrie Edwards‘ journey from being a member of Little Mix to a solo artist is both inspiring and challenging, as evidenced by her recent candid interviews.

Perrie Edwards openly discussed that her experience as a solo artist has been different from what she anticipated, sharing honestly about the ups and downs she encounters in her artistic journey at present.

More recently, the ex-member of Little Mix, now aged 31, has put out her third solo single titled “You Go Your Own Way.” Earlier in the year, she also released two other singles: “Forget About Us” and “Tears.

Nevertheless, the shift from being in a band to becoming a solo artist hasn’t been an effortless journey for the singer, as she admitted: ‘Truthfully, it’s not at all what I anticipated it would be.’

At the Music Industry Trust Awards on Monday night, Perrie shared her thoughts: “Things have changed. It seems to me that the music industry is undergoing a transformation right now. The way we create and market our music has significantly shifted.

‘I’m not implying that it’s either good or bad; rather, I’m not accustomed to being in a band. However, let me remind you, I adore singing, creating music, and the entire process is simply the most enjoyable part for me.’

Inquired about the ups and downs of her job, she affirmed that performing on stage remains her greatest passion.

Perrie was thrilled beyond words, expressing that there’s nothing more joyful for her than simply singing and performing as if it were effortless, especially when she’s on stage,” (Paraphrased)

She continued by saying, “Moreover, starting anew is challenging for me, and I won’t reach that level anytime soon. It’s a lot of effort to help me get there; I just aspire to perform on the main stage.

In simple terms, Perrie’s debut solo single “Forget About Us” climbed its way to the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, ruled UK radio play for a month, and stayed at number one on The Official Big Top 40 for two consecutive weeks.

Yet the singer admitted it will be a while before she is selling out her own shows as she joked: ‘I need to get a few more songs’.

Additionally, Perrie shared her guidance for those new to the field, stating: “Stay as down-to-earth as possible if you’re entering this profession.

‘Keep people around you who you trust more than anything and keep that inner circle tight.

“Strive for greatness, aiming to become the best version of yourself you can be. If things don’t turn out as planned, remember that you gave it your all.” In this version, the message remains the same but is expressed in a more natural and easy-to-read language.

In a hint of forthcoming events, Perrie chose to stay silent when she playfully suggested: ‘Something intriguing is on the horizon, and I believe everyone will be thrilled. I’m certainly eager myself, but I won’t reveal any more details.’

Following Perrie’s confession about her broken friendship with ex-bandmate Jesy Nelson, I find myself drawing inspiration for a fresh tune from my forthcoming album.

In 2020, following Jesy’s unexpected exit from the group due to ongoing struggles with her mental health, Perrie, Jade Thirwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock formed a trio, having all been part of Little Mix since winning The X Factor in 2011.

Last month, she shared insights about the strained bond and the eventual decline of their friendship during an interview on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast.

She told the host: ‘I wrote a song about it – a friendship I had that I no longer have. We don’t know how to talk about friendship breakups.

It’s still incredibly painful – when you experience everything, from the peaks to the valleys, together with someone, only for them to disappear without a trace.

‘But these things happen. Do we try and rectify things? Or just stay away?’
