As a die-hard fan of Perrie Edwards, I can’t help but feel moved by her latest single, “You Go Your Way“. With every note she sings and every beat she dances to, you can feel the raw emotion that comes from her life experiences. This isn’t just another pop song; it’s a testament to the power of love and the strength found in new beginnings.

Perrie Edwards is back with a bang, and her latest single You Go Your Way is already making waves.

Initially, the tune was a popular dance track from London duo Joy Anonymous that emerged in the underground scene. It was this song that captured Perrie’s interest during a songwriting meeting.

Right away, she resonated with the song, then teamed up with the duo and enlisted the aid of Scottish electronic producer Hudson Mohawke (recently collaborating with Charli XCX) to polish off the final details.

Collectively, they’ve revamped the tune into a potent pop sensation, meticulously designed to highlight Perrie’s impressive vocal abilities.

But beneath the infectious melody lies a personal story.

You Go Your Way” originates from a significant juncture in Perrie’s romance with her present fiancé, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Initially in their relationship, Perrie felt apprehensive about the challenges of a fresh romance while preparing for a U.S. tour, so she proposed they part ways temporarily instead.

According to Perrie, she expressed to Alex that we should both take separate paths for now, but if fate has its way, we will cross paths once more when I return.

However, Alex didn’t go along with it. Instead, he declared his commitment to the relationship on the spot, and since that moment, their story has become a part of history.

Eight years later, we find ourselves content, connected, and the proud parents of a lovely child. I strongly feel that if you genuinely cherish something, let it go. If it returns to you, then it belongs to you.

They’ve been a romantic item since 2016, but it wasn’t until February 2017 that they made their relationship official and went public.

They then welcomed son Axel in August 2021 before Axel popped the question almost a year later. 

The music video, helmed by Charlie Di Placido (renowned for collaborating with Jungle), enriches the track with a vivid visual dimension.

The video is a single continuous shot, capturing the genuine feelings portrayed by the song, while showcasing Perrie’s grace and fragility through breathtaking visuals.

This launch signifies the next phase in Perrie’s career as a solo performer, coming after her initial singles “Forget About Us” and “Tears.

Our song “Forget About Us” climbed to the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, ruled UK radio play for a full five weeks, and stayed number one on The Official Big Top 40 for an impressive two-week stretch.

While Tears watched, Perrie gave an outstanding performance at the Capital’s Summertime Ball held at Wembley Stadium, confirming her status as a successful solo artist.

Fans have eagerly awaited her upcoming debut solo album, set for release in 2025.

‘It’s got a song about (my son) Axel, about how loved up I am with Alex. It’s like all different things that I hope people can relate to.’ 

Perrie also reflected on her journey through life, sharing her thoughts on ageing.

As a youngster, I considered 28 to be quite advanced. However, I now realize I’m still quite young at heart. I’m not afraid of growing older, in fact, I eagerly anticipate it. I look forward to my future years, spending them in a foreign land, enjoying the soothing sight of the ocean’s ebb and flow.
