Period drama fans! Exciting BBC drama with classic Jane Austen characters announces new cast

In a thrilling development for fans of Jane Austen‘s era, the BBC series titled “Another Bennet Sister” – set in the same world as the beloved author – has revealed fresh talent joining its impressive ensemble.

The forthcoming 10-episode series, modeled after Janice Hadlow’s 2020 book, functions as an accompanying work to Jane Austen’s timeless novel “Pride and Prejudice.” In this production, Mary Bennet takes center stage as she embarks on a personal journey of exploration.

Following the announcement that Ella Bruccoleri will portray Mary in the upcoming production last month, the BBC has now revealed its complete cast lineup. Maddie Close, Poppy Gilbert, Molly Wright, and Grace Hogg-Robinson have been chosen to play Jane, Lizzie, Kitty, and Lydia Bennet respectively.

Grant have been officially cast as Mrs. and Mr. Bennet, respectively. Adding to the excitement, Ryan Sampson will bring Mr. William Collins to life on screen. This promises to be an unforgettable journey!

In addition to recurring characters, Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, previously played by Richard Coyle and Indira Varma, will reprise their roles. Tanya Reynolds and Anna Fenton-Garvey have been cast as well, taking on the characters of Caroline Bingley and Charlotte Lucas respectively.

As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that an array of fresh faces have been added to the roster! Varada Sethu and Aaron Gill will step into the shoes of Ann Baxter and John Sparrow, respectively. Laurie Davidson and Dónal Finn are set to bring Mr Ryder and Mr Hayward to life, while Roisin Bhalla, Reggie Absolom, and Jasmine Sharp complete our talented cast.

I’m thrilled to my core as I watch the cameras roll on our fresh, humorous, and intelligent reinterpretation of Jane Austen’s cherished realm. As Director of BBC Drama, I couldn’t be more excited about The Other Bennet Sister, especially with its spot-on ensemble featuring Ella, Ruth, and Richard. Next year, viewers will find themselves utterly captivated by this delightful series on the BBC.

For quite some time, I’ve been quietly contributing to the development of “The Other Bennet Sister.” Over these years, the captivating characters created by Janice have flourished and evolved in my mind as Sarah [Quintrell] crafted the scripts. This is what executive producer Jane Tranter shared about the process.

Our performers certainly faced high expectations, but let me assure you, they exceeded them! This is an ideal cast for us, each member adding freshness and intrigue to the realm of Austen. We at Bad Wolf are thrilled to produce a series that delivers so much pleasure.

The Other Bennet Sister has no release date.
