I’m so excited! One of my favorite shows, Bergerac – that classic crime drama set in Jersey with a really compelling, flawed detective – is now streaming on Channel 4 in the UK. Before this, you could only find it on U and U&DRAMA, so it’s great that it’s more accessible now!
All six episodes of the show’s first season are now streaming on Channel 4, so viewers in the UK can watch it for free with ads on both the Channel 4 streaming service and traditional TV.
This new series is a fresh take on the classic 1980s detective show starring John Nettles. It centers around Jim Bergerac, who is dealing with the loss of his wife while investigating a single murder that unfolds over the course of six episodes.
What to Read Next
Damien Molony, known for The Split, will star as Bergerac in a new version of the show. He’ll be acting alongside Zoë Wanamaker, Robert Gilbert, Sasha Behar, and Chloé Sweetlove.
The show has been a success with both audiences and reviewers, and they’ve already started making a second season. It’s expected to be released later this year, but a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.

Since its debut last February, the show—which has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes—has become the highest-rated program in U&Drama’s history.
Digital Spy complimented the show for its fresh approach and departure from the previous format, where each episode featured a single, self-contained murder investigation.
The show maintains a consistent intensity by not shifting its central focus from episode to episode. This means the main character is under constant, unrelenting pressure throughout the series.

Instead, the feeling stays with the viewer, heavy and echoing the character’s pain. This closeness ultimately makes for a deeply personal and impactful experience.
The show revealed last year that Adrian Edmondson, Lesley Sharp, Camilla Beeput, Turlough Convery, and Charles Dale would be joining the cast for its second season.
In season two, Jim Bergerac begins rebuilding his life, and his mother-in-law, Charlie Hungerford, starts a new romantic relationship.
Bergerac is available to stream on U and Channel 4.
