Perfect British sitcom revival “will happen”, says star as show hits major milestone

The popular British sitcom Peep Show, starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, finished airing in 2015 after running since 2003. One of the show’s stars recently shared news about the possibility of bringing it back.

Matt King, best known for his role as Super Hans in most of the 54 episodes of the show, recently told The Sun that he’s confident the cast and crew will reunite, though not in the near future.

According to him, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, the show’s creators, told them when it finished in 2015 that they planned to return in ten years with a special, standalone episode.

I checked in with them about this six months ago, and they expressed continued interest, but said they were too swamped to commit to a ten-year agreement. I’m optimistic it will eventually work out.

Isy Suttie, a castmate who joined the show as Dobby in season five, believes a return might be better off delayed.

She joked that a reunion with Mark and Jez would have to wait until they were all in retirement homes, living nearby. Meanwhile, Sophie Winkleman, who played Big Suze, preferred leaving the show as it was, believing a reboot would be poorly done.

The final season of Peep Show was incredibly well-received, earning a perfect 100% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Overall, the series itself boasts a very strong 96% rating.

According to The Standard, the show concluded with a clever, funny, and subtle finale that perfectly fit the characters.

After Peep Show ended, Mitchell and Webb created the Channel 4 sitcom Back, which ran from 2017 to 2021.

Mitchell and Webb recently worked with Channel 4 again on their sketch show, Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping. Although opinions on the show were sharply divided, Channel 4 has decided to renew it for another season.

I’m so excited! Tomorrow at 8pm, I get to watch a special Great British Bake Off with Mitchell, King, Suttie, and Winkleman all competing. I can’t wait!

Peep Show can be streamed in full on Netflix and Channel 4.
