The popular British film Pillion, featuring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård, is now streaming for home viewing.
Harry Lighton’s first film as a director tells the story of Colin, a quiet traffic warden, and his unexpected BDSM relationship with the mysterious biker, Ray.
The film Pillion, which premiered at Cannes last year and received positive reviews, currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After a theatrical release in November 2025, it’s now available to rent or purchase digitally on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV.

Lighton’s film, playfully called a ‘dom-com’, honestly explores the power dynamics in dominant/submissive relationships. It also questions traditional ideas about masculinity in queer relationships, all while telling the story of Colin, a shy character as he comes into his own.
Melling and Skarsgård have fantastic chemistry, making both the intense and gentle scenes in Pillion truly captivating. Their dedicated performances significantly enhance the film’s already strong story.

I’m already calling this movie a future classic – I’ve seen it called that by Filmhounds, and I totally agree! What really got to me was the really sweet relationship between Colin and his parents. They weren’t perfect, sometimes a little clueless, but they were so supportive, and it was just beautiful to watch.
The review praised the film as a touching portrayal of parenthood, comparing its uplifting spirit to movies like Pride, which showed a heartwarming acceptance of LGBTQ+ activists by a close-knit community. They also said watching the main character, Colin, grow and change was a delightful experience.
Though based on Adam Mars-Jones’s 2020 novel Box Hill and containing explicit sexual scenes, Pillion is, at its heart, a lighthearted and enjoyable British comedy, according to Sight & Sound.

To realistically portray biker culture, Lighton worked with and featured members of the Gay Bikers Motorcycle Club (GBMCC) in the film.
Filmmaker and main subject Melling immersed himself with motorcycle clubs to understand their culture, including practices like ‘bootlicking’ and riding as a passenger. Meanwhile, actor Skarsgård, who also helped produce the film, intentionally left Ray’s history vague, wanting to maintain the character’s enigmatic and quiet dominance.
“It was fantastic,” the Big Little Lies actor told The Guardian. They explained that the script was so good, it felt easy to perform.
Pillion is available to buy and rent from digital retailers, including Prime Video and Apple TV.
The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops that sell magazines or order it online for only £8.99.
