46-year-old model had earlier decided to quit vaping due to her mother Amy’s ongoing struggle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable lung condition.
Katie, who has raised some worries with her rapid weight loss, shared that she underwent testing because her mother’s illness was genetic, and to determine whether vaping might have impacted her wellbeing.
She shared a quick update from Snapchat about her visit for a lung checkup the previous day.
It was necessary for me to get them examined since my mother underwent a lung transplant, and I wanted to determine whether the condition is hereditary and also check if vaping might have had any impact on my lungs.
However, my lungs are in top condition, no issues whatsoever, yet he suggested guidance on quitting e-cigarettes.
She mentioned: “I’m gradually quitting e-cigarettes. However, everything is going great – all systems are functioning well, and my lungs are in excellent shape, considering my age. In summary, everything is fine! I’m in perfect health!

As someone who’s been vaping for a year now, I’ve come to realize that it’s not beneficial – and it’s particularly harmful given my mother’s recent lung transplant. Engaging in this activity around my mom feels disrespectful. This is something I shared with the camera.
I’ve made up my mind; today marks the end of me holding onto that harmful, addictive device. From now on, I’m quitting e-cigarettes.
I have the power to dispose of these items. Let’s team up. They’re going in the trash, that’s final. I’ve removed all my vaping devices from the car and everything else as well.
2023 saw Amy receiving a lung transplant after being diagnosed with a condition that medical professionals estimated her life span could extend for as long as five years.
In a conversation with The Daily Star last November, she shared an update on her health progression, stating, “It’s a gradual journey and it’s taken some time. I’ve encountered several obstacles along the way, as anticipated, but I’m moving in the correct path.
After receiving a lung transplant, it can be tempting to rest due to occasional shortness of breath, but without regular exercise, progress will not be made.
‘I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.’
Amy outlined that the disease takes away a person’s breath and vitality, while Katie emphasized the significance of increasing understanding about this issue because troubling statistics demonstrate its escalation.
