Perez Hilton undergoes emergency surgery after he nearly died during 21-day hospitalization

Perez Hilton had to undergo emergency surgery this week, coming just days after a life-threatening battle with sepsis in the hospital.

The 48-year-old celebrity blogger, who previously shared a spiritual experience during a three-week hospital stay, recently had surgery to remove a dangerous blood clot in his leg.

Hilton shared an update from the hospital on Instagram, explaining that they caught a health issue early. He saw a surgeon today, thankfully with good timing, after experiencing increasing soreness and pain in his leg last night.

‘This morning, it was way worse. I couldn’t even walk I had to use my walker.’

An ultrasound showed Hilton had a blood clot in a deep vein. She shared that she’s grateful it was found quickly, explaining that if the clot had traveled to her lungs or heart, it could have been very serious.

Hilton made it successfully through his surgery, and posted an update declaring ‘God is so good.’ 

He reported that his thrombectomy surgery went smoothly this morning, saying he was asleep during the entire procedure and already felt much improved.

The surgical team showed me the large blood clot they removed, which stretched from my groin all the way down to just below my calf. It was incredibly extensive! I’m thrilled to be going home tomorrow pain-free – I could barely walk yesterday and needed a walker to get around. I’m resting in bed today to recover.

Hilton recently revealed on social media that a careless mistake led to a 21-day hospital stay, which he surprisingly described as both the worst and best experience of his life.

He was taken to the hospital after an ulcer left him unable to walk.

The actor revealed he had the flu last week and was taking medication, but he didn’t take it with food. This led to an ulcer, which then turned into a perforation and ultimately resulted in sepsis – a life-threatening condition that can be fatal.

Let me tell you, I’ve seen this happen before. He experienced really severe stomach pain – the kind that completely stopped him in his tracks. He couldn’t even walk, and unfortunately, he needed an ambulance to get him to the emergency room. It was a scary situation, but thankfully he got the help he needed.

Perez Hilton first started his celebrity gossip blog in 2004, initially calling it PageSixSixSix.com. He quickly renamed it PerezHilton.com.

He has also befriended a number of Hollywood celebrities. 

Looking back, I think it’s really important to acknowledge when we’ve made mistakes. I mean, can you believe the audacity? It’s just…wow. It still freaks me out thinking about it, honestly. It was a really dark moment, even for someone who understands his artistic side.

The shirt featured a picture of Heath Ledger from the movie Brokeback Mountain, along with the phrase, ‘Why couldn’t it have been Britney?’

Paris Hilton expressed regret for many of her past comments about Britney Spears, and believes Piers Morgan would likely feel the same about things he’s said previously, during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

Oh my gosh, he’s just so insightful! He was talking about how much he’s changed and grew as a person, and he said something so beautiful – he basically said that, thankfully, most of us get older and learn from things, becoming wiser along the way. It just… it really hit me, you know?

Paris Hilton continues to share updates on celebrities and entertainment, while also prioritizing raising her three children.

He is dad to Mario, 13, Mia, 10, and Mayte, eight – whom he welcomed via surrogate.

He shared in a 2017 HuffPost essay that all of his children are biologically his, each born with the help of a different surrogate mother, all using eggs from the same anonymous donor.

The celebrity mentioned that while they might consider adoption someday, they personally wanted to have children who shared their genetic makeup.
