According to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, engaging in a legal battle with actress Blake Lively seems necessary following his involvement in her high-profile lawsuit against her co-star Justin Baldoni from the movie “It Ends With Us.
This week, Mario Lavandeira, known professionally as Hilton, is expected to appear in court in Nevada following a subpoena issued by team Lively. The subpoena requires him to disclose his journalistic sources and materials in an effort to establish his involvement in an alleged defamatory campaign against her.
On Tuesday, Perez, aged 47, disclosed to The Kyle And Jackie O Show that due to financial constraints, he will personally handle his own court proceedings since he cannot cover the cost of legal representation.
If my insurance includes coverage for subpoenas, I would have undoubtedly utilized it to engage lawyers for this matter. However, unfortunately, my insurance policy solely covers lawsuits, and I am dealing with this issue on my own instead.
He explained that although he wasn’t being legally compelled, he felt it was important to stand up against this situation. The reason being, Blake Lively is asking him to reveal his confidential sources and hand over all of his journalistic work – both published and unpublished materials.
In the U.S., it’s secure. I’m tentatively hopeful that the law will be in my favor, Hilton commented further.

Hilton is Nevada’s journalist shield laws to protect his sources and unpublished materials.
Instead, Lively’s group maintains that Hilton shouldn’t be classified as a journalist in relation to this particular case, thus they believe shield law protections should not be invoked for her.
Hilton acknowledged that he was unsure if the judge would completely dismiss his request to withdraw the subpoena, stating: “This judge might want to appear impartial and offer a small concession.
If the judge rules that Hilton, who has operated his self-titled site for 21 years, is not considered a ‘journalist’ in this particular case, the blogger expressed concerns about potential wide-ranging implications.
If the judge sides with her, it means that journalists who work exclusively online won’t enjoy the same protective rights as those associated with broadcast media such as radio stations, newspapers, or television shows, according to him.
Hilton made it clear that the remarks he’d made concerning Lively were entirely his personal views regarding her lawsuit against Baldoni, and had no connection to any organized effort aimed at defaming her.
It’s possible that he thought Lively deliberately withheld from the Nevada judge the fact that he originally supported Lively’s allegations against Baldoni, and later changed his stance without any clear reason or explanation.
In December, it was reported by The New York Times that Lively filed a California Civil Rights complaint against Baldwin. She alleged that he engaged in unwanted, intimate actions and violated her personal boundaries while filming It Ends With Us.

As a die-hard fan, I’d initially taken her side, proudly voicing my support for her in public spheres. But then, as I dug deeper, I unearthed a treasure trove of unedited texts, emails, and timeline screenshots with receipts – all presented by Justin Baldoni during his lawsuit and amended complaint. These pieces of evidence made me reconsider my stance, leaving me with a new perspective on the situation.
Upon reading all of that, I found myself thinking, “Wow, it appears Blake Lively has significantly misrepresented the facts.” To put it frankly, it feels as though I’ve been deceived. In my view, my opinion has shifted quite naturally and authentically.
Upon being inquired about Baldoni’s wellbeing, Hilton responded: “I believe that both Baldoni and Lively will emerge unscathed from this situation.
As long as Lively remains married to Ryan Reynolds, she should be in good shape since he continues to be a top-tier star. It’s well-known in both Hollywood and Australia that show business tends to forgive high-profile individuals like A-listers.
It’s worth noting that, despite a history of controversy, the Australian actor Mel Gibson has managed to sustain a prolonged career.
As long as Blake remains married to her high-profile spouse, she should be in good shape. Interestingly, not too long ago, it was announced that she’ll be starring in a new movie produced by Lionsgate, and she continues to secure roles in projects.
According to Hilton, Baldoni stands to benefit from the court case since public sentiment seems to favor him. Many people are eager to see him triumph over this challenge and achieve success in future endeavors.
Live’s team has served several summons to different content producers during the ongoing court case, which includes YouTube personalities such as Candace Owens and Andy Signore.
Last December, a lengthy courtroom saga began when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging that he engaged in inappropriate behavior during filming, seeking compensation of $250 million.
He quickly filed a lawsuit for $400 million, alleging defamation. This action has sparked ongoing exchanges of lawsuits and countersuits between the two parties.
Every party involved has refuted the accusations levied against them. By June 2025, a federal judge in New York had dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively.
The trial in Lively’s action is currently set to begin in March 2026.
