Percy Jackson & The Olympian Star Walker Scobell Suggests The Perfect Role For Logan Lerman’s Franchise Return

Walker Scobell, the star of the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, has shared his thoughts on what role Logan Lerman – who played Percy in the 2010 and 2013 films – should take if he joined the reboot. Those earlier movies, based on Rick Riordan’s popular fantasy novels, weren’t well-received by fans because they differed significantly from the books.

Disney now owns the rights to the Percy Jackson series and has revived it as an original show for Disney+. Rick Riordan, the author, is a co-creator and executive producer. The first two episodes of season 2, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, have just been released. Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, portrayed with the character’s age more accurately reflecting the books, and is joined by Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri as Grover.

The actors in the new Percy Jackson series would welcome Logan Lerman back to the franchise, even in a different role. Walker Scobell and Daniel Diemer, who play Percy’s half-brother Tyson, suggested Lerman would be perfect as another son of Poseidon in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. You can watch their discussion, which also includes Leah Jeffries, here:

Scobell expressed his desire to cast Logan Lerman as Triton, their brother in the series, saying, “I think he has to play our brother Triton.” Diemer wholeheartedly agreed, adding, “Keep him in the Poseidon family. That’s your favorite character in the books, right?” Scobell also mentioned meeting Lerman at a Hulu event, where the Perks of Being a Wallflower actor indicated he’d be willing to make a cameo appearance on the show.

Triton doesn’t have a large role in the books, making it ideal for a short appearance by Lerman. Percy encounters Triton during a visit to Poseidon’s underwater kingdom in the fifth book, and Triton isn’t particularly friendly towards his half-brother. While he might not appear until the fifth season of Percy Jackson, the writers could introduce him earlier, like they have with other characters.

Walker Scobell is excited to learn from Logan Lerman and get his perspective on the popular series. In an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley, Scobell expressed his desire to simply ask Lerman questions. He even suggested they could watch the first movie and episodes of the show together, discussing the making of both and sharing insights.

If we don’t see Triton until the fifth season, a brief appearance by Logan Lerman would be a satisfying way to conclude the series, especially if this is the last season. Regardless, Jack Scobell and Lerman clearly admire each other’s work and should have more scenes together beforehand. Even though the Percy Jackson movies weren’t popular with everyone, a cameo from Lerman would be a fun tribute to the show’s origins.
