The actors in the new Percy Jackson Disney+ series want Logan Lerman – who originally played Percy Jackson in the movies based on the first two books – to have a part in the show. Although he starred in those films a while ago, fans are eager to see him join the current TV adaptation.
I was so excited to hear Walker Scobell, Daniel Diemer, and Leah Sava Jeffries talking about Logan Lerman potentially joining the new Disney+ Percy Jackson series! Walker actually suggested Logan could play Triton, which would be amazing since Triton is a half-brother to both Percy and Daniel’s character, Tyson. It makes so much sense, especially since they’re all sons of Poseidon in the books. Daniel put it perfectly – they really should “keep [Lerman] in the Poseidon family!” I’d love to see it happen.
Scobell: “I think he has to play our brother Triton.”
Diemer: “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”
Jeffries: “That’s what I thought, too, my brother.”
Diemer: “Keep him in the Poseidon family. That’s your favorite character in the books, right?”
Jeffries: “Yeah.”
Scobell remembers meeting Lerman at a Hulu event in April 2024, where Lerman expressed strong interest in joining the series. Lerman, who stars in the current Percy Jackson show, specifically hoped they could share a scene as brothers, rather than Lerman playing a character unrelated to Percy. (You can find more details about the differences between the show and movies here.)
I met him at the Hulu event we both attended, and he mentioned he’d be very interested in working together on something like that. I think it would be really cool to film a scene with him, especially if we played brothers. I’m envisioning something that connects back to the Percy Jackson story – it would be a great way to reference the past.
Logan Lerman was the first actor to portray Percy Jackson in the film adaptations of Rick Riordan’s popular book series. He starred alongside Brandon T. Jackson as Grover and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth in the 2010 movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and they all returned for the 2013 sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
Season 2 of the Disney+ series Percy Jackson has begun, continuing the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular books. This season covers The Sea of Monsters and follows Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) and his friends—Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Daniel Diemer, Dior Goodjohn, and Charlie Bushnell—on a dangerous mission to the Bermuda Triangle. Their goal is to find a powerful item to protect Camp Half-Blood. The first two episodes are now available to stream on Disney+.
Logan Lerman’s Possible Percy Jackson Disney+ Role & Why He Works

I’m a big fan of the Percy Jackson series, and I’ve always been fascinated by Triton! He’s Poseidon’s oldest son, born to his wife, Amphitrite, who is a goddess of the sea. He’s basically a super strong merman who acts as Poseidon’s main messenger. What’s really cool is that he can control all kinds of sea creatures and even the waves themselves with a special conch shell. Plus, he carries a trident just like his dad!
As Poseidon’s oldest son, Triton frequently feels envious of his father’s demigod children, particularly those with one human parent like Percy Jackson. He considers them inferior to himself and worries they might challenge his position as the future ruler of the ocean, leading to jealousy and resentment – especially with the arrival of new half-siblings like Tyson.
Triton is initially cold and arrogant towards Percy, frequently looking down on him after they meet. This seems to stem from the fact that Percy is a half-god, born from the affair between Poseidon and Sally Jackson, which Triton, as a full-blooded god, resents. Despite this rocky start, they eventually resolve their issues and join forces to battle the Titans.
The main drawback of casting Triton is that he doesn’t appear in the original Percy Jackson book series until the fifth and final novel, The Last Olympian. Fortunately, a fifth season of the show seems likely, as Disney quickly renewed Percy Jackson after filming for Season 2 wrapped up. Even if Logan Lerman does join the cast, his episodes probably won’t air for a few years, potentially in the late 2020s or even after 2030.
Casting Walker Scobell’s ‘Percy Jackson’ co-star, Dylan Lerman, would be a fitting conclusion to the series’ story. It would reunite the two actors who’ve played Percy Jackson, allowing them to finish the adventure together. Given their existing friendship and connection to the franchise, fans would love to see them lead the story to its end.
