Penelope Cruz & Scarlett Johansson Reunite on 2025 Oscars Red Carpet!

17 years after appearing together in their successful movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson joyfully reunited as they strolled the 2025 Oscars red carpet.

When the Black Widow star, aged 40, was spotted, the Academy Award-winning Spanish actress, at 50, affectionately moved towards her previous co-star and gently touched her shoulder.

Following a swift spin, Johansson broke into a smile upon spotting Cruz, whose hands were occupied with hers in an animated exchange amidst the glamorous gathering.

Earlier, Cruz was awarded an Oscar for her outstanding portrayal of Maria Elena in Woody Allen’s film ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’.

As of late, I’ve been honored with a nomination for the 2021 melodrama “Parallel Mothers,” and I’ve also garnered recognition in the past for my roles in the musical romance “Nine” (2009) and the drama “Volver” (2006).

2020 saw Johansson being nominated for not one but two Academy Awards – one for Best Actress (Marriage Story) and another for Best Supporting Actress (Jojo Rabbit).

Or, more colloquially: In 2020, Johansson got two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Actress (for Marriage Story) and the other for Best Supporting Actress (for Jojo Rabbit).

For the occasion, Cruz stunned in a sweeping white gown with a ruched bodice.

Her floor-length dress was adorned with a line of diamond brooches that acted as buttons.

Johansson was captivating in a deep-blue satin dress by Mugler, complete with coordinating gloves and a dazzling diamond neckpiece.

Two years ago, rumors arose about Cruz and Johansson collaborating on a Nancy Meyers movie, now titled “Paris Paramount”. Recently, it appears their friendly banter suggests this project may finally be underway.

According to THR, it is ‘not clear if that’s the actual title, a working title or a code name.’

According to the report from the outlet, the plot revolves around a gifted filmmaker who develops a romantic relationship with a producer. Together, they produce multiple successful movies; however, they eventually end their romantic and professional partnership.

Originally separated, they are once more united as a grand new undertaking surfaces. This unexpected reunion finds them working side by side again, managing high-risk situations and dealing with unpredictable celebrities.

In the movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Johansson and Cruz had an unforgettable romantic moment, and interestingly, Cruz’s real-life partner, Javier Bardem, was also part of the cast.

The movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” showcases an intricate romantic involvement among the characters played by Cruz, Johansson, and Bardem, which can be described as a multi-partner relationship.

Back in 2008, during our time on the movie set of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Penelope and I rekindled our bond and started dating officially. Two years down the line, we made it official again by tying the knot.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona came out the same year that Johansson married Ryan Reynolds.

2011 marked the year they parted ways, but since then, she has found new happiness with her spouse Colin Jost. He’s the proud father of their baby boy, Cosmo, who joined their family in 2021.

Furthermore, her 11-year-old daughter is shared with Rose Dorothy Dauriac, her former partner Romain Dauriac.

2021’s Oscars are being led by popular past talk show host Conan O’Brien, marking his debut as the event’s emcee.

Following the news of his appointment, the well-known humble comedian quipped humorously, “I accepted the hosting gig just to receive an invitation.

The musical film Emilia Pérez, featuring Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana, and Karla Sofia Gascon in Spanish roles, has garnered the most nominations with 13, including one for best picture.

As a connoisseur of life’s rich tapestry, I find myself humbled and honored to be recognized for my portrayal of a captivating character – a cartel leader who undergoes an extraordinary transformation by feigning death and transitioning into a woman. This role has allowed me to explore the depths of human resilience, gender identity, and the power of transformation, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Her Oscars bid faced a setback when past tweets from Karla, expressing questionable opinions about George Floyd and Islam, were brought back to light, causing controversy.

Additionally, Zoe has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress, while Jacques Audriard is up for Best Director for his work on the film as well.

The film ‘The Brutalist,’ featuring Adrien Brody portraying a Hungarian Jewish Holocaust survivor who becomes an architect in post-war America, trails closely behind Emilia Perez with 10 nominations.

Adrien has been chosen as a contender for the Best Actor award, just like Brady Corbet for the Best Director category, Guy Pearce for the Best Supporting Actor role, and Felicity Jones for the Best Supporting Actress position.

In the nominations, both “Wicked” and “The Brutalist” have received ten accolades each, which include a joint nomination for Best Picture, Cynthia Erivo being recognized in the Best Actress category, and Ariana Grande being nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Last year’s Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival by Sean Baker, titled Anora, is also vying for the top prize in the best picture category.

Actress Mikey Madison, who plays the lead role, has been nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of a New York stripper, while Russian actor Yura Borisov has also been recognized with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Among the other films nominated for Best Picture are “A Complete Unknown,” a Bob Dylan biopic, with Timothée Chalamet as the lead actor, also nominated for Best Actor.

Additionally nominated for Best Picture are the dramas “Conclave” focusing on the selection of a new Pope, the science fiction continuation “Dune: Part Two,” and the Brazilian political movie titled “I’m Still Here.

Indeed, it was the chilling horror movie from last year titled “The Substance” that garnered attention, and its star, Demi Moore, has earned a nomination for best actress – marking the first time in her illustrious and glamorous career.

Initially, it seemed likely that Adrien would take home the award for Best Actor. However, this past weekend, Timothee unexpectedly won the Screen Actors Guild Award, which has thrown off many expectations and left some people disappointed.

I’ve got to say, the “Best Actress” category this year seems a bit hazy, but there’s one name that keeps standing out: Demi. With the incredible response she’s garnered for her breathtaking comeback performance in The Substance, it feels like she’s a strong contender for the win. I just can’t wait to see if the rumors hold true!

It appears that Kieran Culkin is strongly favored to win the Best Supporting Actor award for “A Real Pain,” a film both written and directed by his fellow actor, Jesse Eisenberg. This is due to the fact that Culkin has already won several awards on the circuit so far.

Zoe has secured several victories in the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category at various award shows, competing against stars such as Ariana Grande as Glinda in Wicked and Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown.

At the Directors Guild of America Awards and the Producers Guild of America Awards, Anora was honored with the top prize, and these two events are often seen as strong indicators for the Oscars. When viewed collectively, they suggest a strong possibility that Anora will also win best picture at the Oscars.
