It’s been over ten years since Nancy Meyers directed a movie, but her next film is coming to Warner Bros. with a planned release date of December 25, 2027, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The studio picked up the project back in October 2025. The film will feature a star-studded cast including Penélope Cruz, Jude Law, Emma Mackey, Kieran Culkin, and Owen Wilson.
So, I was hearing about this movie, originally called Paris Paramount, that was supposed to hit Netflix. Apparently, things fell through over money. The director, Meyers, asked for a $150 million budget, but Netflix was hoping to keep it under $130 million. It’s a pretty interesting story – a young writer, director, and producer who fall in love, make a big film together, and then their relationship, both personal and professional, falls apart. I haven’t heard anything about whether the script has been altered, if the title will stick, or what the new budget looks like. The whole thing is kind of ironic, though. Meyers is now taking the film to Warner Bros., and Netflix is actually talking about buying Warner Bros.! That could mean they end up with her movie anyway, which is a wild thought.
Nancy Meyer’s Long-Awaited Return to the Big Screen

20th Century Studios
Nancy Meyers is a highly successful filmmaker known for creating popular, heartwarming romantic comedies starring major actors. She began her career as a talented screenwriter, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Private Benjamin and co-writing the screenplays for Father of the Bride and its sequel. Meyers made her directorial debut with the 1998 film The Parent Trap, and went on to direct other popular movies like What Women Want (2000), Something’s Gotta Give (2003), The Holiday (2006), It’s Complicated (2009), and The Intern (2015).
Her most recent movie in theaters was The Intern. By the time Paris Paramount comes out in 2027, it will have been 12 years since she last appeared in a film. During the pandemic, she directed Father of the Bride Part 3(ish), a follow-up to the original Father of the Bride movies, and released it on Netflix in September 2020. A remake of The Holiday is also planned, but Nancy Meyers isn’t involved.

Warner Bros. has scheduled Nancy Meyers’ new film for Christmas 2027, a fitting choice given the December success of her previous romantic comedies like The Holiday, What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, and It’s Complicated (which even opened on Christmas Day). This return to the genre will offer a lighter alternative to the big action movies Avengers: Secret Wars and The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, both launching December 17, 2027. Starring Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, and Emma Mackey, a Nancy Meyers romantic comedy in theaters during December feels like the ideal holiday treat.
