As a film enthusiast with over three decades of watching movies under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming collaboration between Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in “Day Drinker” has me quite intrigued. The storyline, reminiscent of a modern-day Hitchcockian thriller, promises an exhilarating ride into the criminal underbelly, a genre I’ve always found captivating.

At the Chanel Cruise 2024/25 Hong Kong Replica Show held at the Design Institute on Tuesday, Penelope Cruz exuded her signature elegant style.

In simpler terms, the actress, aged 50, showcased her long legs in a chic white feather mini-skirt, complete with a pearl belt at her waist. She paired this outfit with a matching blazer.

As an ardent admirer, I boosted my stature with towering platform heels and carried my essentials in a chic, immaculate white Chanel shoulder bag.

Penelope concealed her eyes using stylish cat-eye shades tinted dark, adorned herself with sparkling silver jewelry, and wore her long brown hair in cascading curls.

At the opulent gathering, William Chang Suk-Ping, Jasmine Tan, Carina Lau, and Chow Yun-fat were also present.

Following the disclosure, it’s known that Penelope and Johnny Depp are set to collaborate on their fourth movie.

61-year-old Oscar-nominated actor and 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who were spotted together recently in Spain, have been cast in the action thriller “Day Drinker.” The film will be directed by Marc Webb, aged 50, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the source, the upcoming American Film Market film festival starting on November 5 in Las Vegas will see the international sale of the Lionsgate movie.

The upcoming film represents Johnny Depp’s largest endeavor yet to rejuvenate his acting career on the big screen, following several years of controversy stemming from his high-profile divorce with Amber Heard.

Previously, Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz have starred together in movies like “Blow” (2001), “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011), and “Murder on the Orient Express” (2017).

Depp starred in the French movie Jeanne du Barry in 2023, and directed this year’s independent film Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.

THR noted that both projects ‘were not commercial plays’ and financed by European investors.

According to the news report, the plot of the project is about a cruise ship bartender and a secretive daily bar-goer who happen to meet. This encounter leads them into a world of crime they never anticipated, and surprisingly links their lives together.

Adam Fogelson from Lionsgate stated to the outlet: ‘Day Drinker blends a hugely marketable idea with shockingly eccentric surprises, all within an extraordinary setting. No director is more suited for this task than Marc, and there are no two actors more fitting than Johnny and Penélope to breathe life into this world.’

During the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Depp discussed the influence that his controversial separation from Heard had on his entertainment career.

He stated, “Did I sense being ostracized by Hollywood?” He added, “If you weren’t alive to feel it, it might seem like an absurd prank. When you’re asked to step down from a movie due to something as trivial as sounds in the air, yes, it feels like a boycott.

Depp added, ‘I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood, because I don’t think about Hollywood.’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee are among the individuals involved in producing Day Drinker.

As an over-the-moon fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement upon seeing the announcement about the forthcoming film, shared via a tweet that beautifully showcased the THR article on Lionsgate’s official page.

Some eagerly anticipated the on-screen reunion of Depp and Cruz, expressing enthusiasm such as “What a pair! I can hardly wait!” or “Thank you for making this happen! Can’t wait to see it!” or “I adore this duo! Kudos for bringing them back together in a movie!

As an ardent fan, I’ve been vocal about my concerns, echoing the accusations levied by Heard and questioning the decision of the studio to provide such a platform to the contentious actor.

User A commented, “You’re incredibly distasteful,” while User B expressed, “It’s a shame what you did,” and User C forecasted, “This will definitely fail badly; I suggest abandoning it to avoid unnecessary humiliation.
