Pedro Pascal Teases Reed Richards’ Return in Avengers: Doomsday with New Set Photos!
Filming is currently taking place in the U.K., and fresh details about the key characters in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie are being revealed. The latest sneak peek focuses on star Pedro Pascal, offering fans a close-up view of the book he’s reading after once again donning the Mister Fantastic suit for the Avengers sequel.
Through Cosmic Marvel on X (previously Twitter), Pascal posted Instagram Story snapshots, one featuring him dressed up and reading Anne Carson’s book “The Gender of Sound.” The highlighted section could possibly hint at upcoming Doomsday events. Pascal’s Mister Fantastic costume, distinguished by its blue hue, is visible, although it doesn’t offer many details. Earlier, his role in the movie was confirmed as part of the cast announcement for “Avengers: Doomsday.
In the new series of photos labeled “Doomsday,” we get a glimpse of Pascal stepping into the role of Mr. Fantastic, similar to the competitive era of space exploration in the 1960s, which serves as the backdrop for the remake of “The Fantastic Four.” Following Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller, who previously portrayed Marvel’s first family leader in films based on the character, Pascal will now don the mantle of Mister Fantastic.
In the action-packed film titled “Doomsday,” Pascal’s Richard (alongside The Fantastic Four’s members such as Johnny Storm/Human Torch portrayed by Joseph Quinn, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman played by Vanessa Kirby, and Ben Grimm/The Thing embodied by Ebon Moss-Bachrach), are pivotal figures. This movie features the revamped Avengers, squaring off against Robert Downey Jr.’s notorious villain, Doctor Doom. The Fantastic Four, joined by the X-Men, Thunderbolts, and Wakandans, play significant roles in this production. Directed by the Russo brothers, “Doomsday” is planned to be filmed consecutively with its follow-up, “Secret Wars.
Kicking off Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this film presents our title characters residing in a blend of past and future, facing imminent danger from the devouring cosmic entity, Galactus (portrayed by Ralph Ineson), along with his herald, Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The movie also includes unspecified roles for Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and John Malkovich. Anticipation builds as Downey’s Doctor Doom is rumored to appear in a post-credits scene, marking his debut within the cinematic universe. He expresses feeling daunted by taking on this first role.
A Comic Book Tie-In Is on the Way
Alongside the debut of the movie, there’s also a humorous spinoff comic that shares the same timeline as the film. This makes The Fantastic Four the initial Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) team to have such a companion piece. The comic also offers intriguing details about First Steps, which is the title of the movie’s opening scene.
First Steps opens in theaters on Jul. 25. Meanwhile, Doomsday premieres in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
