Pedro Pascal talks joining beloved franchises like The Last of Us and Gladiator
As a cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that Pedro Pascal is quickly becoming one of my favorite modern actors. The man has an uncanny ability to seamlessly slide into any beloved franchise and make it his own. From Game of Thrones to Star Wars, and now Gladiator II and Fantastic Four, Pascal’s career trajectory is nothing short of remarkable.
There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Pedro Pascal landing roles in huge Hollywood franchises. The 49-year-old actor rose to prominence thanks to his portrayal of Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones. Since then, he’s jumped between several Hollywood franchises, most notably playing the title character in the first-ever live-action Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian.
More and more significant parts are lined up for him. Next year, he’ll reprise his role as Joel Miller in the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us.” Additionally, we can look forward to seeing him as Reed Richards in Marvel’s forthcoming “Fantastic Four” film. However, before those roles, he will take on the character of Marcus Acacius in Ridley Scott’s long-awaited sequel to “Gladiator,” titled “Gladiator II.
It’s evident that Pascal is well-versed in uniting cherished realms for his projects. With each endeavor, there are high expectations placed upon him. So, how does he handle such pressure? As for Gladiator II, his focus was on remaining faithful to the original and exploring where it might lead.
He said to Entertainment Weekly, “You don’t opt out of it; instead, you hop aboard and let go. The rest isn’t in your control. Everything is designed to support what was initially loved, which is everyone’s aim when they start it. So it’s essentially about jumping on the ride and giving it all the affection you can.
In the sequel of “Gladiator”, Pascal faced unique acting hurdles. Despite his experience with intense stunts and exhausting physical work, such as Oberyn’s final battle in “Game of Thrones”, he discovered that “Gladiator” was a different kind of challenge. He expressed, “The physical work has been quite demanding, and I enjoy that aspect, but it’s been more challenging than anything I’ve faced before.
Gladiator II opens November 15 in theaters. Not long to go now, folks!

First Footsteps.” For more than ten years now, Marvel enthusiasts have longed to witness the Fantastic Four become part of the vast Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With occasional hints along the way, such as John Krasinski portraying Reed Richards in the second Doctor Strange film, the full team is set to premiere in 2025.
Of course, the casting crew aimed to secure Pedro Pascal for the role of Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic. With production in full swing, Pascal recently posted a backstage snapshot on his Instagram Story, showcasing his chair next to Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s (Ben Grimm’s).
