Peaky Blinders Star Charlie Murphy Pregnant After 5 IVF Rounds

This month, Charlie Murphy is expected to deliver her first baby following five rigorous cycles of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

The 37-year-old Irish actress openly embraced the signs of pregnancy, having gone through five challenging rounds of In Vitro Fertilization spread over a period of two years.

Reflecting on the moment she learned she would soon hear the sound of little feet, she admitted, ‘I was certainly joyful, but I had to check myself from getting overly excited. Perhaps it was lingering trauma from multiple IVF attempts. Those were tough and intense. The experience was so demanding that I embraced every pregnancy symptom that came my way, I was simply thrilled to have moved past those rounds.’

In addition to being part of the hit show Peaky Blinders, Murphy has also made appearances in critically acclaimed series like Happy Valley (which won BAFTAs) and Netflix’s Obsession. He is currently involved in a long-term relationship with Sam Yates, the director of Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero.

In conversation with The Irish Times, Murphy shared that her path to becoming a mother was not smooth.

She expressed that it seemed as if she was gambling at a casino, pouring out resources – emotional, financial, and time-wise, she said.

When the final few games didn’t produce any wins, I felt like I had been tricked. It seemed challenging, laborious, and repetitive.

This difficult time involved a miscarriage too. ‘It’s so common,’ Murphy says.

Initially, I might have kept my In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) experience private, but I’m happy that the conversation around it is more open these days. Sharing my journey with other women who have been through it helps me not feel isolated. This is what she expresses.

As an over-the-moon enthusiast, I can’t help but feel fantastic at this moment! I’m making great progress with all the organizing I’ve been doing. My label maker is my new best friend, helping me sort through the clutter and decluttering those pesky junk drawers. Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a well-organized space!

Charlie and Sam have yet to share any snaps of their pregnancy joy on social media.  

Since 2019, Charlie has been contentedly involved in a prolonged romance with the British filmmaker, Sam. They frequently post glimpses of their lives on Instagram.
