Peaky Blinders boss Steven Knight exits new Star Wars movie
As a die-hard fan of both Steven Knight’s gritty, gripping storytelling and the Star Wars universe, I find myself caught between two worlds with the news of Knight’s exit from the upcoming Star Wars film. On one hand, I’m excited about the prospect of a new generation of Jedi being trained by Rey, as promised in Kathleen Kennedy’s words. On the other, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment at losing Knight’s unique touch on the story.
Peaky Blinders‘ Steven Knight has exited the new Rey-focused Star Wars movie.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that a new film directed by the talented Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who brought us ‘Ms Marvel’, has been in the works for some time now. This intriguing project was initially announced last year and is planned to unfold 15 years after the momentous events depicted in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’. I can’t wait to see what exciting stories this collaboration will bring to life!
It’s now said that Knight is no longer the screenwriter. At present, Lucasfilm is in discussions with possible alternatives for the role (as per Variety)).
Initially, the creators of “Peaky Blinders,” decided to take over from Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, who previously had to withdraw from the project around this time last year.
The upcoming movie, currently unnamed, will focus on the journey of Ridley’s character Rey as she mentors a fresh batch of Jedi. Previously, Kathleen Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm, acknowledged that they recognized the need to expand upon the narrative following “The Rise of Skywalker”.
She explained to Yahoo UK, “Previously, we were uncertain about the details and extent of the situation; now, however, we have a clearer understanding.
In November, Ridley shared that the plot of the project wasn’t as she had anticipated.
She playfully shared her enthusiasm with Collider, saying, “This tale is quite intriguing! I can’t wait to get my hands on the script as I currently have no new information. The plot twist isn’t what I anticipated, yet I’m incredibly eager about it.
“So far, I know the story of one film, and I think people will be very excited.”
Among the upcoming Star Wars cinematic endeavors, “The Rey film” is one of them. This lineup also includes “The Mandalorian and Grogu” series, as well as films directed by Dave Filoni and James Mangold.
Currently, I’m immersed in the making of the forthcoming Peaky Blinders Netflix film, where Cillian Murphy once again brings Tommy Shelby to life on screen.
The latest Star Wars film, “The Rise of Skywalker,” along with the entire Skywalker Saga, can be streamed on Disney+. Additionally, you can purchase physical copies of this movie on DVD, Blu-ray, and even 4K versions.
