Peaky Blinders boss confirms setting for Netflix movie
As a seasoned gamer of the intricate world of the Shelby clan, the news that Peaky Blinders is set to return in a big-screen adventure has sent shivers of anticipation down my spine! With Cillian Murphy once again stepping into the boots of Tommy Shelby, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the gritty streets and tense family dynamics that have captivated viewers since 2013.
Peaky Blinders boss Steven Knight has revealed the setting for the upcoming Netflix movie.
In the upcoming sequel to the widely acclaimed BBC series, airing on a streaming platform, Cillian Murphy will once again portray the character of Tommy Shelby that he played previously.
At the Royal Television Society’s London Convention, as reported by Deadline, Knight clarified which time period the Shelby family will be portrayed in during the upcoming season.
“It’s set in the Second World War and it’s really good,” Knight teased.
Fans of the TV show are familiar with the fact that Murphy’s character held the rank of Sergeant Major during World War I and was awarded medals for bravery. Yet, throughout the series, viewers have witnessed the lingering impacts of war on Shelby, as he frequently battles nightmares and signs of post-traumatic stress, a condition often referred to as PTSD.
In the year 2022, just following the final episode of season six, it was initially hinted by the show’s creator that there might be a continuation or spin-off of Peaky Blinders, set in the 1940s.
He shared that it’s an exceptionally detailed narrative, derived from real events during World War II and intended to be narrated in the distinctive style of “Peaky,” as he communicated to Metro previously.
The knight withheld more specifics about the film’s background, leaving it uncertain if Tommy Shelby will play a part in the events of World War II on a personal level.
More information about the cast of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film has been revealed lately. Actress Rebecca Ferguson from Dune and Barry Keoghan, who is known for his role in Saltburn, have joined the project as stars.
At the very same gathering, Knight playfully hinted at additional exciting cast revelations: “We’ve already unveiled Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan, and there are more surprises in store for you.
It remains undecided whether actors Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby) and Sophie Rundle (Ada Shelby) will reprise their roles for the upcoming Netflix film based on the Shelby family.
There is currently no release date or title for the Peaky Blinders movie.
