Mrs. Davis is a fantastic eight-part science fiction series on Peacock that you might have missed. Damon Lindelof, the creator, consistently delivers high-quality television. He first gained recognition with Lost, and all of his work since has explored thought-provoking themes.

Following his work on Lost, Lindelof created The Leftovers and then Watchmen, both highly original series that stand in a class of their own. His most recent show, Mrs. Davis, is his strangest and perhaps most overlooked, so it’s worth watching if you haven’t seen it.

“Mrs. Davis” is a fantastic science fiction show and deserves to be considered one of the best of its kind. The story takes place in the near future, where a super-intelligent AI named “Mrs. Davis” has solved all of humanity’s biggest problems, like hunger and war.

I have to admit, not everyone’s loving this new show! One of the main characters, Sister Simone – played by Betty Gilpin – is convinced this woman, Mrs. Davis, is behind her father’s death. It’s wild because Mrs. Davis really wants to talk to Simone, and she’s even threatening self-destruction unless Simone agrees to help her with something. It’s a seriously strange dynamic, and it’s totally hooked me!

What Mrs. Davis Does Better Than Other Sci-Fi Shows

The film Mrs. Davis is brilliantly crafted. It presents mysteries from the beginning, and you’ll likely misinterpret the clues – but that won’t matter. The story is so captivating, and cleverly, Mrs. Davis provides answers just as frequently as it raises new questions.

Many science fiction shows get weighed down by complicated plots and backstory, but Mrs. Davis is remarkably direct and fast-paced. It demands your full attention, and it pays off – the show is funny, vibrant, and surprisingly optimistic, leaving a lasting impression.

Lindelof has once again delivered a fantastic TV finale, this time with Mrs. Davis. Even if the ending hadn’t been perfect, the show would have been good, but the clever and satisfying conclusion elevates Mrs. Davis to the level of truly great science fiction.

While the show wraps up its main puzzles by episode 8, the finale doesn’t tie everything up neatly. Instead, it focuses on how the characters deal with the aftermath of the events in Mrs. Davis, and that emotional resolution is what makes it such a strong ending.
