So, I was really curious about what’s next for Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante after that crazy cliffhanger in the Peacemaker season finale! Apparently, Stroma himself addressed this. As you know, the finale revealed Vigilante and the whole 11th Street Kids crew were involved in starting Checkmate – which, according to James Gunn, is all about trying to improve the world. Seeing as Checkmate seems like it’s going to be a big deal in the new DCU, it’s safe to say Vigilante’s future with the franchise is looking pretty good! I’m excited to see what they do with him.
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, stated last September that Vigilante would continue to be part of the DC Universe after the second season of Peacemaker, highlighting the character’s significance. However, actor Freddie Stroma recently told TopMob that he hadn’t had any conversations about his role as Vigilante beyond Peacemaker Season 2 and is completely unsure about his future with the character.
TopMob asked if I’ve spoken with James Gunn about my potential role in the DC Universe, or if he’s given me any indication of what that might be. They wanted to know if we’ve discussed what my future with the DCU could look like.
I haven’t heard anything at all about it. People often assume I’m keeping things secret, but I truly don’t know what’s going on. I wish I could be mysterious about it, but I honestly have no information.
The second season of Peacemaker, now available to stream on HBO Max, won the award for Best Superhero Television Series at the 53rd Saturn Awards. Actor Freddie Stroma, with his co-star Jennifer Holland, also presented the award for Best Science Fiction Film during the ceremony.
David Stroma revealed that James Gunn isn’t sharing details about his role in the new DC Universe, which isn’t surprising considering DC Studios is keeping things under wraps.

The first season of Peacemaker ended with John Cena’s character, Christopher Smith, left stranded on a planet called Salvation by Rick Flagg Sr., leaving viewers eager to know what will happen next. While actor Freddie Stroma admits he doesn’t know how the story will continue, he’s hopeful that things will eventually be wrapped up in a satisfying way.
The second season of ‘Peacemaker’ finished with a major cliffhanger, and I really hope they make another season with the same cast and crew.
Freddie Stroma isn’t sure what form a certain project will take – whether it’ll be a TV show, a film, or something else – but he’s optimistic it will eventually work out.
Peacemaker had a quick cameo in the new Superman movie, offering his opinion on Superman during a television interview.
A fan asked actor Stroma if he’d been considered for a cameo in the 2025 Superman movie alongside Peacemaker. Stroma enthusiastically replied that he “would have loved” to be involved, and added that he’s open to appearing in any future DC Universe films or shows if the opportunity arises.
Someone pointed out Peacemaker made a brief appearance in a ‘Superman’ movie, and it got me wondering – was there ever a possibility you could have been part of that project?
Freddie Stroma said he’d be thrilled to appear in a project related to ‘Superman,’ and he’s happy to accept any offer from James Gunn for a role in a movie or TV show.

The reveal of Checkmate in Peacemaker Season 2 is a major development for the DC Universe, and it appears some of the actors weren’t aware of the big surprise until the finale aired.
Tim Meadows, who played Langston Fleury in Peacemaker, revealed to TV Insider in November 2025 that he didn’t know what the sign outside the building would say. He explained they were simply told to walk out looking cheerful.
I was as surprised as everyone else watching the finale – I really didn’t understand what happened! All I actually filmed for that episode was a scene of me walking out of a building, and there wasn’t any dialogue. They just told me to walk out looking happy.
In a conversation with TopMob, Stroma explained that the actors weren’t aware of the Checkmate logo being visible on the building and expressed his surprise that viewers reacted positively to its reveal.
TopMob asked if, when the show’s finale aired, you hadn’t yet decided what the exterior of your new office building would look like. He wanted to know if that was really the case.
I didn’t know about Checkmate beforehand – it was added to the show after filming. I wasn’t even familiar with it, but it wasn’t mentioned at all originally, so it was a complete surprise. I saw it for the first time at a live podcast recording, and the audience cheered when it appeared. That’s when I realized it must be significant.
What Is Vigilante’s DCU Future After Peacemaker Season 2?

Vigilante is becoming a key player in the DC Universe. The events of Peacemaker Season 2 dramatically changed things, and he’s now established as a significant, though morally complex, hero within the shared world.
It’s unclear if there will be a third season of the John Cena show, but a spin-off series centered around the Checkmate team seems likely. This could bring back Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, along with other characters from the ’11th Street Kids’.
A potential series about the Checkmate organization could revolve around the characters working to revive Peacemaker and help him leave Salvation. Plus, since Adrian Stroma has expressed interest in returning, Vigilante might make a quick cameo in a future project like Man of Tomorrow, similar to Peacemaker’s appearance in Superman.
Vigilante’s journey in the DC Universe is still unfolding, and there’s a strong case to be made for giving this popular character more screen time. He’s incredibly versatile, and his wild, unpredictable personality would make him a captivating presence in any scene.
