Warning: SPOILERS for the Peacemaker episode “Another Rick Up My Sleeve” are ahead!
In the second season of Peacemaker, it wasn’t until the episode “Another Rick Up My Sleeve” that John Cena’s character, Christopher Smith, stepped into another universe for exploration. The recent airing, as part of the 2025 TV schedule, featured him meeting the alternate reality version of Emilia Harcourt while disguised as his deceased counterpart. This Emilia was quite distinct from our usual Emilia, and Jennifer Holland revealed to TopMob that portraying two separate versions of her character proved particularly challenging.
Apart from sporting distinct hair styles and personal fashion tastes, Harcourt 2 appears more approachable compared to Harcourt 1. This contrast becomes even more noticeable given Harcourt 1’s intentional instigation of conflicts this season. When I inquired Holland about portraying two Harcourts in Peacemaker Season 2, she disclosed her dedication to ensure that Harcourt 2 didn’t become a caricature, expressing:
In this rephrased version, the sentence structure is more conversational and easier to understand. The focus remains on the key points being conveyed about the characters and Holland’s role in playing them.
In my opinion, the most challenging part of portraying Harcourt 2 was ensuring she wasn’t portrayed in a humorous light. I wanted to avoid giving the impression that it was a comedy sketch, with constant comparisons to our original Harcourt. Instead, I aimed to keep the depiction grounded and authentic, allowing the audience to believe that Chris found her attractive for reasons beyond just her resemblance to Harcourt, but also because of their shared similarities in personality.
In simpler terms, while Harcourt 2 and Harcourt 1 share similarities, such as their no-nonsense demeanor and field capabilities, Harcourt 2 was intentionally developed to distinguish herself from her main character counterpart in Peacemaker, to highlight differences between this universe and the DC Universe. Actress Jennifer Holland aimed to ensure that Harcourt 2 is portrayed seriously rather than just for comic relief.

According to Jennifer Holland, Harcourt 2’s more approachable demeanor was something she worked on, with director Greg Mottola providing valuable guidance during the filming of episodes two and three in Season 2 of Peacemaker. To quote Holland, “Mottola was instrumental in helping me understand and portray this facet of Harcourt’s character.
Instead of saying “She still has a strength to…” you could say “She maintains a resilience, yet she is not afraid to express her emotions openly.” Compared to Harcourt in another dimension, she is far more open with her feelings. As for ensuring balance in the character’s portrayal, Greg Mottola was instrumental in helping me strike a delicate equilibrium between making her relatable and grounded, while avoiding any over-the-top differences from our Harcourt.

Following James Gunn hinting at a “massive” episode for ‘Peacemaker’, another significant guest appearance appears to have been unveiled.
Title Transformation: “Tim Meadows Steals the Show in Peacemaker Season 2; Steve Agee Dishes on the Explicit Post-Credits Scene Behind the Scenes: ‘I Nearly Fell Apart'”
In the second season of Peacemaker, Tim Meadows’ performance is already proving to be a standout. Meanwhile, during our interview with Steve Agee, he shared anecdotes about the not-safe-for-work end credits scene, expressing that he nearly lost control over his emotions.
In this paraphrased version, the title and content have been rephrased to maintain the original meaning while sounding more natural and easy to read for a broader audience.
In another world, Christopher Smith and Emilia Harcourt shared a deep romance, but Smith’s numerous flaws eventually led to their breakup. When our DCU’s Chris arrived at A.R.G.U.S. headquarters in this universe, he found that Harcourt was dating Rick Flag Jr., portrayed by Joel Kinnaman. Despite the past damage, Chris managed to mend some of the issues his counterpart had caused. This raises a question: With Harcourt 1 currently uninterested in a new relationship, could our Chris be setting the stage for a romance with Harcourt 2? Time will tell.
As a dedicated movie buff, I’m excited to share that we’ve reached the midpoint of “Peacemaker” Season 2! Don’t miss out on the remaining thrilling episodes airing every Thursday evening on HBO Max. Once we wrap up this season, get ready for another exciting DC TV series, “Lanterns,” coming soon from HBO. Stay tuned, fellow cinema enthusiasts!
