James Gunn talks Peacemaker and Creature Commandos crossover possibilities
James Gunn discussed the potential for a crossover between the *Peacemaker* and *Creature Commandos* shows on *Peacemaker: The Official Podcast*. He explained that the two series are already connected because Rick Flag Sr. appears in both. Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee added that it’s “kind of a crossover,” as Flag mentions an injury he sustained in *Creature Commandos* while on *Peacemaker*.
James Gunn mentioned that many fans are hoping to see characters from *Peacemaker* team up with the heroes of *Suicide Squad*, like Weasel, Harley Quinn (The Bride), or Ratcatcher (Phosphorus). Gunn said this is definitely a possibility – and might even happen – because DC Studios sees both shows as being adaptable and able to fit into the larger DC Universe they’re building.
In Episode 6, Lex Luthor, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, is shown in Belle Reve Prison before being transferred to Van Kull as part of a deal arranged by Rick Flag Sr. James Gunn explained that these scenes help connect the different parts of the DC Universe and leave room for these characters to reappear later. The episode also brings back Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), John Economos (Steve Agee), and Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick), emphasizing how important this group will be in telling the ongoing, evolving story of the multiverse in Season 2.
James Gunn revealed that John Cena filmed his scene with Lex Luthor at the same time as the Superman scenes filmed at the Pentagon. This coordinated scheduling highlights how the new DC Studios is planning and connecting its projects.
He pointed out that storylines like Adebayo’s pursuit on Earth-X and Harcourt sharing her feelings with Chris Smith work well on their own, but also contribute to the show’s overall plot.
