On Instagram, posted Wednesday afternoon, Pauly Shore shared that he had surgery to remove a non-cancerous growth from his pancreas. The video was emotional.
Instead of telling his 642,000 followers directly, the 57-year-old comedian asked for their help to share an important message on a platform. He hoped that by doing so, they might play a part in saving lives by raising awareness regarding preventative scans.
According to Shore, preventative scans are seldom conducted. Typically, a scan is ordered when an issue has already been detected instead.
For various reasons, some individuals may choose not to undergo a full body scan. This could be due to financial constraints (with prices ranging between $1,000 and $2,000), or simply because they don’t wish to receive the information.
In the ’90s, the leading comedic actor from movies like Encino Man, Son in Law, and Bio-Dome found himself sitting in a hospital bed, recounting the sequence of events that culminated in him undergoing a significant medical treatment.
Approximately three months ago, Shore underwent a comprehensive full-body scan at SimonMed in Las Vegas, as mentioned in the video caption. This scan checks for various conditions such as tumors, cancer, aneurysms, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease, among others. Given that he is now in his 50s, Shore felt it was a proactive step to take care of his health.

Following his examinations, medical experts shared with him that some pressing matters required further attention.
A week on, I received a call regarding the test results, as Shore stated. They found an anomaly in my abdomen, specifically a tumor within my pancreas.
According to Shore, he managed the communication among his doctors based in California and Nevada. He expressed gratitude for the early detection, although it turned out to be non-cancerous.
After reaching out to my doctors in Los Angeles, things began moving forward, according to Shore. He’s grateful that his tumor was non-cancerous, likely having developed over a period of 15 to 20 years. Although it wasn’t an immediate health concern, his doctor decided that surgical removal was the appropriate course of action.

Shore said the realities of the harrowing situation took a toll on him mentally.
Shore expressed his distress, stating, ‘Learning I had a tumor within me was truly unsettling. Would it expand? Rupture? Become something more sinister? There’s always uncertainty.’
Shore mentioned that although he’s usually quite meticulous when it comes to his health, the choice to go the extra mile with safety measures proved beneficial in this specific situation.
Shore stated that his actions were guided by his gut feelings. He’s consistently maintained a focus on his well-being, incorporating regular gym visits, sauna sessions, massage treatments, dental check-ups, blood tests, colonoscopies, and chiropractic care into his health routine.
