Paulina Porizkova recently posted a touching photo of herself with her late husband, Ric Ocasek. She shared the picture while thinking about the deeply personal, and sometimes self-centered, love they had during their 27-year marriage, which ended in 2017.

The 60-year-old, who was born in the Czech Republic, shared a photo with her 1.3 million Instagram followers, explaining that it showed a private side of her relationship that people didn’t usually see.

Paulina Porizkova revealed she longed for a partner who reminded her of her parents, while her ex-husband, the lead singer of The Cars, desired someone famous and admired who would reflect well on him.

Porizkova described the relationship as a self-centered but surprisingly successful connection that lasted for quite a while.

I imagine our shared past, with all its hurts and imperfections, has shaped us so that when we come together, everything just…fits. Today, I’m thankful for all those years of comfortable connection, no matter why we had them.

The Estée Lauder spokesperson first encountered Ric when she was 19 years old in 1984. He chose her to appear in the music video for his band, Drive.

Ric Ocasek (originally named Otcasek) was married to Suzanne LaPointe at the time, but they later divorced in 1988 after 17 years together.

In a 2021 interview with Amanda de Cadenet, Paulina remembered that he mentored her, offering guidance on everything from her style to how she should act.

I always did what he wanted because I couldn’t bear the thought of losing his affection. His love meant more to me than anything else – more than my job, my friends, or any of my personal interests.

He was the most important person in my life, and for years, I always did what he wanted. But when I started making my own choices, our relationship began to suffer.

Marcia Porizkova learned she was removed from her husband’s will just three weeks after finding him deceased at their $10 million New York City home in 2019. He was 75 years old and died of natural causes.

The model and writer was deeply hurt and shocked that he didn’t want her to receive anything, she said.

This has completely shattered my life and everything I believed in. It feels like a deep betrayal – a loss of the trust and love I invested in him over many years. I can’t understand why he would do something like this.

In 2021, Paulina reached an agreement regarding the estate of the deceased and, according to New York law, received one-third of the inheritance. The exact amount she received has not been made public.

The Grammy-nominated musician had removed his two oldest sons, Chris and Adam, from his will. These sons were from his first marriage, which ended in 1971 with Constance Campbell.

Ric Ocasek didn’t leave his sons, video game designer Jonathan Raven Ocasek, 31, and software engineer Oliver Orion Ocasek, 26, without an inheritance, even though he and his wife, Porizkova, were divorcing.

The Zara model briefly dated Aaron Sorkin, the creator of *The West Wing*, in 2021. In 2023, she started seeing Jeff Greenstein, who produces and directs sitcoms.

Paulina shared the news of her engagement to the 61-year-old Emmy-winning actor she first connected with on a dating app on July 9th.
