Recently, Paula Deen made a pointed comment aimed at her longtime culinary adversary, the late chef Anthony Bourdain, who passed away at the age of 61, seven years ago by suicide through hanging.
2011 marked the start of a heated exchange between Anthony and the 78-year-old chef when he publicly labeled her as America’s worst and most dangerous figure, along with the Food Network’s most destructive personality. This was primarily due to her overly sweet, butter-drenched cooking techniques.
As a devoted advocate, I delight in forming questionable alliances with corporations whose practices may be morally ambiguous, and I wear this connection as a badge of honor. Furthermore, I take pride in the culinary offerings that some might deem unhealthy or harmful, as shared by Anthony Bourdain in an interview with TV Guide.
If I were a popular television host broadcasting at 7 PM each evening, I’d give careful consideration before advising an already overweight populace that it’s acceptable to consume harmful foods. Additionally, her culinary choices leave much to be desired.
As a passionate advocate for health and wellness, I am thrilled to announce that I’ve joined forces with Novo Nordisk as their brand ambassador for the coming year. You may recall that I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes back in 2009, and since then, I have been dedicated to managing my condition and sharing my experiences to help others navigate their own health journeys. This exciting new role allows me to continue spreading awareness and promoting a lifestyle of wellness for all.
Considering venturing into a business that involves selling crutches, since it seems like a profitable endeavor with a humorous twist, according to a witty New Yorker’s tweet.

Anthony expressed his disapproval to Eater, stating that it seemed inappropriate for Deen (known as Hiers) to continue promoting her famous dish of a hamburger sandwiched between a doughnut, given that she has been aware of her Type 2 diabetes all along.
In Billy Corben’s documentary “Canceled: The Paula Deen Story,” which made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last weekend, Georgia’s hometown hero defiantly responded to Bourdain’s critique, though as of now, the film hasn’t found distribution.
Paula expressed her skepticism about what she suspected he ate during his travels, perhaps it was bats or some exotic food. Instead, she prefers good old fried chicken. (EW)
‘God rest his soul. I felt like he didn’t like anybody. Not even himself, maybe.’
Deen added: ‘He started something with me, and I’d never even met him.’
The Daytime Emmy Award winner, currently hosting ‘Love & Best Dishes’ on her Facebook page, addressed her 2013 N-word controversy head-on in a recent documentary, emphasizing that she is not harboring any racial prejudice.
Speaking as a lifestyle advisor, I often find myself reflecting upon the legacy we leave behind. I wouldn’t want any monument marking my final resting place to read, “Beneath this stone lies the remains of someone who harbored prejudice.” Instead, I strive for a life where such labels are not part of my epitaph, but rather, my actions and deeds speak volumes about my character.
‘I want my soul back. To lose your reputation is like losing your soul.’
In a court deposition regarding a racial discrimination lawsuit, Deen acknowledged that she had indeed employed racial slurs in the 1980s. This was during an incident where a black man reportedly threatened her with a gun during a bank robbery. However, when asked about more recent instances, she stated, “I probably have done so, but it’s been quite some time ago.

Instead, a federal judge ruled against the lawsuit filed by an employee of the Positively Paula show, as the white plaintiff, Lisa Jackson, was not authorized to bring legal action due to her claims of unfair treatment towards black staff members.
In a span of just 24 hours, The Food Network cancelled Paula’s program, and as a result, she also lost her partnerships for endorsements with companies like Novo Nordisk, Walmart, Target, and several others.
As a dedicated lifestyle enthusiast, I’m sharing some personal news about a beloved culinary institution that has been a cherished part of my community for many years. On August 1st, I made the difficult decision to close the doors of my iconic restaurant, The Lady & Sons, which has served Savannah, GA, with warmth and delicious meals for an incredible 36 years. Additionally, after two fruitful years of operation, The Chicken Box also bids adieu.
These decisions were not made lightly, but rather as a response to the evolving landscape of our industry and the challenges faced by small businesses in the wake of ongoing global events. I am eternally grateful for the support and loyalty of my patrons over the years, and look forward to finding new ways to continue nourishing and connecting with you all.
Remember that while our physical space may change, the spirit of good food and community will always remain an essential part of my work and life. So, as we bid farewell to these beloved establishments, let’s also look forward to the exciting opportunities and connections that lie ahead. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share more with you in the future!
Nevertheless, the former contestant of Dancing with the Stars season 21 continues to oversee four Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen restaurants spread nationwide – specifically in Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, and Branson.
