Paul Rudd’s new movie debuts with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating
As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of comedies and a longtime admirer of Paul Rudd’s charm, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming film “Friendship.” With its impressive Rotten Tomatoes score following its Toronto International Film Festival premiere, this movie is already being hailed as the funniest of the year.
The forthcoming comedy “Friendship,” starring Paul Rudd, has received favorable reviews on Rotten Tomatoes after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In a comedic pairing, an actor from Marvel movies shares screen time with Tim Robinson, known for Netflix’s “I Think You Should Leave,” in a buddy comedy that has been praised as the funniest film of the year.
In the movie titled “Friendship“, written and directed by Andrew DeYoung, an unusual friendship forms between Craig (Robinson), a quirky individual, and Austin (Rudd), his recently moved-in neighbor, due to a mistakenly delivered parcel.
The event fostered a quick friendship between Austin, but upon noticing Craig’s signs of obsession, Austin became eager to end it.
Following its debut, the film “Friendship” currently boasts a perfect 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this score may shift as more reviews come in closer to the official release date, which hasn’t been announced yet for DeYoung’s movie.
In the meantime, let’s have a look at what critics at TIFF made of the film.
The Hollywood Reporter
As a gamer, I found myself thoroughly entertained by this film’s unique portrayal of camaraderie between guys. It’s packed with some of the most gut-busting laughter I’ve experienced all year!
The Financial Times
Robinson’s character, known for putting his foot in his mouth, is humorously portrayed with excellent timing and features creative absurdity. This isn’t just a comedic representation of suburban embarrassments and arrogant beta males; it transcends many serious dramas exploring similar themes.
IndieWire
One could easily envision that this movie could’ve turned into loosely related scenes, but DeYoung’s storytelling shows a definite and satisfying purpose.
The Daily Beast
Team-up with the perpetually zany Rudd, I solidified my title as the undisputed king of awkwardness. Jointly, we turned “Friendship” into the funniest film of the year.
In addition to the comedy cast, Kate Mara takes on the role of Craig’s florist spouse named Tami, while Jack Dylan Grazer portrays their teenager named Stevie.
Friendship doesn’t have a release date yet.
