Paul Mescal was joined by his excitable father watching the All-Ireland hurling final on Saturday.

At a sports gathering, the 29-year-old actor, hailing from Maynooth, reconnected with his Irish heritage as he sat alongside his father, Paul Snr.

In the All-Ireland hurling final, it was a battle between Cork and Tipperary. As Paul shared his thoughts about the game’s significance to the Irish people, he spoke to the BBC amidst the throng of spectators.

Besides his humor, he playfully mentioned how fortunate he felt once more this year for receiving complimentary game tickets.

Singer Tom Grennan, 30, was also at the event with his father as they sat behind Paul and his dad.

From the bleachers, Paul expressed, “The All-Ireland Final day is undeniably one of the most unique and cherished events in our yearly schedule. Sharing it with my father – we feel incredibly fortunate to have received additional complimentary tickets for yet another final!

Hurling is a fast-paced, Gaelic outdoor team sport played with a stick and ball. 

Paul’s excursion follows him recently confirming his relationship on Instagram with singer Gracie Abrams, whom he attended the Glastonbury Festival with.

The pair reportedly celebrated their first anniversary of dating in June.

Previously, Gracie was in a relationship with the multiple Grammy-winning artist Blake Slatkin from 2017 to 2022. Similarly, Paul had a two-year romance with three-time Grammy winner Phoebe Bridgers that ended in 2022.

In 2019, when the artist was only 20 years old, they secured a deal with Interscope Records, marking the start of their career. Then, in 2022, they had a significant career advancement by joining Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Tour as an opening act. Following this, between 2023 and 2024, they also opened for Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour.

In the upcoming movie “The History of Sound,” directed by Oliver Hermanus after World War I, Mescal will both serve as an executive producer and play the character Lionel. This post-WWI gay romance is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on September 12. Alongside Mescal, Josh O’Connor and Chris Cooper are also part of the star-studded cast.
