Paul McCartney brings Ringo Starr onstage at tour closer in London: ‘Should we rock?’
As a film enthusiast who grew up in the ’60s and ’70s, witnessing the Beatles reunion was like seeing a long-lost family come together again after decades apart. The emotions were overwhelming, the nostalgia palpable, and the music timeless. It’s incredible to think that these two iconic figures, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, are still rocking stages around the world, proving that the magic of their partnership is indeed here to stay.

By what means did the 12-string Framus Hootenanny guitar, once in the possession of John Lennon, find its way to a repair shop located in Los Angeles?
At 82 years old, McCartney was thrilled as Ringo Starr, also 84, unexpectedly joined him on stage. This brought a wave of excitement and prolonged applause from the crowd at the O2 arena. As they stood there, Starr gave his iconic peace sign, and McCartney asked, “Shall we get the party started?
“I only rock,” Starr quipped before assuming his position at the drum kit.
Previously co-musicians performed “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and concluded with “Helter Skelter” alongside McCartney, during his band’s performance. Notably, Starr had also played these same two songs with McCartney during his 2019 show at Dodger Stadium.

Additionally, an unexpected moment occurred earlier during the performance. Paul McCartney surprised everyone by reintroducing an old acquaintance – his first bass guitar, the same one that was taken decades ago and miraculously returned to him just this past February.
McCartney commented, ‘It sounds like a bass,’ upon playing the instrument again after half a century. Plus, get ready for a surprise – Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood will be joining us!
They hugged each other first, then began performing “Get Back,” a hit single by The Beatles from 1969. Previously, Starr had played this song at the very same London location with Wood and McCartney back in 2018.
Starr mentioned in September that there’s a strong bond between the bassist and the drummer, explaining, ‘You two are the depth of everything.’
“Paul’s the man — and he’s still the most magical bass player I know,” he said.
