Paul and Marjan compete for Lieutenant on 911: Lone Star's season 5 premiere

As a seasoned gamer of both firefighting simulators and crime drama series, I must say that the latest opener of 911: Lone Star left me gripped with anticipation for more. The emotional turmoil experienced by Owen Strand as he grappled with his brother’s loss and the decision to choose a new lieutenant was palpable, and it resonated deeply with my own experiences as an armchair firefighter.

In the premiere of “911: Lone Star” season 5, viewers got a glimpse of where each character stood, a year after their previous encounter. For devoted fans, it was delightful to reconnect with everyone and learn about their current struggles. This was particularly noteworthy for Marjan Marwani and Paul Strickland.

With Judd Ryder departing from the fire station and leaving his lieutenant position vacant, Captain Owen Strand faced a challenging choice. Although they were both set to take their Lieutenant’s exams, it was up to Owen to decide whom to appoint. Yet, this task seemed overwhelming as he confided in Judd at one point.

He’s concerned, having just lost his brother, about potentially losing another important person in a distinct way. If he has to make a choice between his crew members, would they still feel comfortable working under him? For now, it seems both Marjan and Paul have qualities that make them strong candidates for the role. The decision hasn’t been made yet.

Who will Owen choose in 911: Lone Star?

As long as Marjan and Paul’s storyline isn’t resolved, it’s possible that the show might take a new direction. It could be that another character gets chosen instead, or Judd might reappear. However, bringing Judd back would be challenging since he’d have to start anew, just as if he were a brand-new character.

From what we see in the preview of episode 2, it seems that Marjan and Paul could potentially provide more evidence due to the train disaster that has been hinted at for a while. This catastrophic event may present an opportunity for them to demonstrate their abilities further as they handle the aftermath.

Will Paul and Marjan become lieutenants, or will an unexpected event cause someone else to step up instead? The answer lies ahead, but first, they must handle the looming train catastrophe.

Every Monday, you’ll find the series ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ on FOX at 8/7 central time. If you miss an episode, don’t worry! You can watch it the next day on Hulu.
