Patrick Schwarzenegger blasts Trump’s ‘disgusting and vile’ statement about Rob Reiner’s death

Patrick Schwarzenegger criticized President Donald Trump for what he called a ‘disgusting’ remark made about director Rob Reiner’s passing.

Police say 32-year-old Nick Reiner is responsible for the deaths of his parents, Rob, 78, and his wife Michele Singer, 70, who were found stabbed to death at their $13.5 million home in Brentwood on Sunday.

Hollywood was outraged after Trump mocked the filmmaker’s death on Monday, posting on his social media platform that the filmmaker died because of the intense hatred he felt towards Trump – a condition Trump labeled ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’

Schwarzenegger, 32, joined a number of other stars in condemning the statement.

On Monday, the White Lotus actor shared former President Trump’s comments on X, calling them ‘disgusting and vile’.

Earlier that day, Rob and Michele – who were dear friends of Maria Shriver – were remembered with a touching tribute from her.

I just… I can’t even process this. That journalist, she’s seventy years old, and she was talking about them – the parents – like they were the most wonderful people. She said they were amazing parents and always looked on the bright side of things. And all this happened just hours after they arrested their son, Nick, for… for what happened to them. It’s just so heartbreaking to hear her talk about them like that, knowing what’s come out. I feel so bad for everyone involved, especially those parents – they seemed like such good people.

Maria Shriver wrote about her close friendship with Michele and Rob Reiner, saying they were among her dearest friends. They grew up together as parents, sharing experiences from early childhood classes all the way through raising their kids. They shared many joyful and difficult moments, and supported each other’s hopes and dreams.

She shared that the couple had recently been spending time together, explaining, ‘They had dinner with us last week, and they seemed incredibly happy – truly loving each other, their friends, family, and their country.’

You know, as someone who observes families and public figures, I’ve always been so impressed by this couple’s dedication. What really stands out is their unwavering commitment – not just to their own family, but to making a real difference in the world. They genuinely believed in this country and consistently worked towards a brighter future, and they weren’t afraid to put in the effort to create the nation they cherished. It’s truly inspiring to see that level of dedication.

She described her parents as incredibly loving and dedicated, always striving to be the best they could be.

Shriver expressed deep sorrow for those affected, saying she was heartbroken, shocked, and profoundly saddened, echoing the feelings of everyone who cared for and about them.

As a longtime fan, I was so moved by her final words. She beautifully captured who they were – truly gifted, kind, and full of life. She said she hopes everyone remembers them as deeply loving, good people who were also incredibly patriotic, and who shared a beautiful love with each other. It broke my heart to read her personal goodbye – ‘I’ll miss you, Michele. I’ll miss you, Rob.’ She ended with a heartfelt ‘I love you both,’ thanking them for their friendship and wishing them God’s blessings. She’s right, of course – life just won’t be the same without them.

Shriver’s post was met with an outpouring of support from friends and fans.

Oh my gosh, it just broke my heart to see Emma Heming, Bruce’s wife, write ‘I’m so sorry for your loss Maria!’ It’s just…so sad. And then Patrick Schwarzenegger, Maria’s son, just left a single red heart emoji. Like, that says it all, doesn’t it? It’s just…everything is so awful right now, and seeing their reactions just makes it feel even more real.

Jason Kennedy shared a message of support, saying he and others are sending their love and prayers for peace to those affected by this loss.

People struggled to find words to describe the tragedy, calling it unimaginable. Many remembered Reiner as a well-loved figure in Brentwood, often seen around town and described as warm and friendly – like a ‘big teddy bear.’

Shriver’s tribute came shortly after reports broke that the couple’s son, Nick, had been arrested.

Los Angeles police announced on Monday that they believe Nick caused the deaths of his parents.

Nick is in jail at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, unable to pay bail, while he deals with a substance use disorder.

I was so shocked to hear about Carol and Rob. From what I understand, their daughter, Romy, who lives close by, was the one who found them and immediately called for help. It’s just heartbreaking.

Rob and Michele, who married in 1989, shared three children: Jake, 34, Nick, and Romy.

Reiner also adopted Tracy Reiner, 61, during his first marriage to the late Penny Marshall.

Nick Reiner has previously spoken publicly about struggles with substance abuse.

He recounted on a 2018 podcast how he wrecked a guest house while high on drugs, explaining he’d been using uppers for days and was severely disoriented.

The Reiner family has confirmed the deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner. In a statement, a family spokesperson said they are deeply saddened by this sudden loss and ask for privacy as they grieve.
