As a historian who has delved deep into the annals of time, I must say that the tradition of trick-or-treating is one that truly warms my heart. Having traced its roots back to the medieval English tradition of Souling, and then further to the Celtic holiday of Samhain, it’s fascinating to see how these ancient customs have evolved over centuries, eventually finding a vibrant home in modern-day celebrations.

Patrick Mahomes, along with his expectant spouse Brittany, spent Halloween donning costumes inspired by zoo creatures while their two kids tagged along. Later on, they ventured into their Kansas City neighborhood in Missouri for a night of traditional door-to-door candy gathering.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I recently found myself stepping into a new role – that of a zookeeper, at least for a day! Donning a practical tan outfit, I sported an emblem declaring my profession above one of my pockets, while my name, proudly displayed as “Patrick,” graced the other. Guess who was in town? None other than the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs!

Additionally, he donned a coordinated bucket hat and military-styled boots, accompanied by his wife dressed in a full kangaroo onesie outfit. This unique costume featured a hat-like headpiece, a miniature kangaroo pouch, and soft, light brown boots to complete the look.

In this scenario, the three-time Super Bowl MVP and champion, while working as a zookeeper, had to manage his three-year-old daughter Sterling, who acted like a playful pink flamingo, and his son Bronze, who was two years old and displayed behavior similar to a fierce lion.

Instead of recording the holiday, they showcased it by posting a string of pictures and clips across their individual Instagram accounts. Both of them uploaded a family picture accompanied by the caption: ‘Wishing everyone a joyful Halloween!’

Apart from posting a familiar family picture on their porch, their home’s entrance backdrop, the NFL star additionally posted a heartwarming image of him holding Bronze gently in his arms, with both of them dressed up in costumes.

Additionally, Brittany shared photos of her children seated securely in their personalized car seats within the family’s sport utility vehicle before dressing up for Halloween.

After that, she posted a video of a family of four cruising around their neighborhood in a golf cart while Ray Parker Jr’s fittingly spooky tune, “Ghostbusters” from 1984, was blasting through their speakers.

She followed up with a cute photo of her and Bronze in their outfits out front of their mansion, and a video of Bronze walking up their long driveway in his lion costume.

The mother of two is overheard saying, “Say ‘trick or treat,'” as her son returns home, slightly out of breath. At just two years old, he’s constantly expanding his vocabulary and gave it a try to say, “trick or treat.

Additionally, there’s an individual picture of Sterling showcasing a wide, radiant grin, almost like a pink flamingo, and another snap of her brother relishing the results of his efforts by savoring a lollipop.

In due course, both the zoo caretaker and his charges reached the front porch of their neighbor’s house. Here, the head of the household endeavored to instruct them on appropriate actions and to encourage them to express their needs.

Following the delightful goodies our little terrors received, we, the overjoyed parents, offered our heartfelt thanks to the gracious host. It seemed like we were off to the next spooky abode in search of even more Halloween treats!

The Mahomes reside in a luxurious, custom-built home spanning approximately 4,300 square feet and valued at $1.8 million. This magnificent abode is nestled on a sprawling 1.4-acre plot of land, conveniently located for a 20-minute car ride to the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri, as reported by Architecturaldigest.com.

Back in 2012, I found myself in the halls of Whitehouse High School, East Texas, where destiny had me crossing paths with my future partner, Brittany. At that time, she was a senior and I was a sophomore. We officially started dating in March of that year, and here we are, still going strong.

For approximately eight years, they were a couple before the Chief’s leader popped the question during their Super Bowl ring ceremony held in Kansas City, Missouri, in the year 2020. This eventuality culminated in their nuptials which took place in March 2022.

Overflowing with excitement, I couldn’t help but share the incredible news myself! On July 12th, they took to Instagram to announce that baby number three is on the way! I simply can’t contain my joy for them as they continue to grow their beautiful family!

As an ardent enthusiast, I can’t help but delve into the fascinating history that lies behind our beloved Halloween custom of trick-or-treating. It seems to have sprung from a myriad of European and Celtic traditions, with one intriguing example being Souling – a medieval English practice where folks would traverse from door to door on All Saint’s Day. Their offering? A melodious song or heartfelt prayer, often in exchange for a soul cake. Isn’t it captivating how our modern-day revelries are deeply rooted in such rich and ancient customs?

In Scotland and Ireland, it’s customary for individuals to don costumes and put on brief skits as they visit homes during Halloween, expecting to be given food or sweets in return.

Samhain, a traditional Celtic festival, originated as an occasion where people would don costumes and light bonfires in an attempt to ward off deities who could potentially deceive them.

In the U.S., it was primarily Irish, Scottish, and English immigrants who introduced various customs, however, the practice of trick-or-treating as we know it today didn’t gain widespread popularity until the 1950s.
