Patrick Dempsey will play the main character in Fox’s upcoming thriller, Memory of a Killer, and a new trailer offers a first look at the action-packed series, which is similar in style to the Jason Bourne movies.
Fox has given fans a first look at its upcoming psychological thriller, Memory of a Killer, featuring Dempsey and Michael Imperioli. The series is based on the 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer (La Mémoire Du Tueur). While an exact date hasn’t been announced, it’s currently slated to premiere in January 2026.
Memory of a Killer centers around Dempsey’s character, Angelo Ledda, a hitman leading a double life and struggling with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Imperioli plays Angelo’s longtime friend, who owns a restaurant that secretly serves as a cover for his criminal dealings. Here’s a brief overview of the story:
Losing your memory is incredibly difficult for anyone, but for Angelo Ledda, it’s especially dangerous. He already has a risky job as a hitman, but now he’s facing even more pressure. Angelo leads a double life: he’s a feared hitman in New York City, but also a quiet salesman and father in Cooperstown, upstate New York.
Angelo has skillfully kept his personal and professional life separate for years, building a strong boundary between them. However, that’s becoming increasingly difficult. He’s recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a disease he understands all too well – his brother is already suffering from its effects, and Angelo knows what the future holds.
The cast also includes Richard Harmon as Joe, a skilled hitman, Odeya Rush as Maria, the daughter of Angelo, Daniel David Stewart as Maria’s husband, Peter Gadiot as Dave, a local detective, and Gina Torres as FBI Agent Linda Grant.
Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment are teaming up to create the new series. Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone are writing and executive producing it, along with Cathy Schulman, Arthur Sarkissian, and Peter Bouckaert.
Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network and Entertainment, praised the series as a gripping thriller with a compelling and fast-paced premise. He highlighted the strong lead character, believing they have the potential to become another iconic figure on Fox. Thorn also noted the script’s emotional impact, calling it one of the most moving stories he’s encountered recently.

The new series, Memory of a Killer, shares similarities with the Jason Bourne films. Both feature protagonists who must conceal their true selves, leading double lives where they hide their identities not only from enemies, but also from those closest to them – including the people they’re tasked with eliminating.
As a huge movie and TV fan, I’ve always recognized Dempsey from some really popular projects. You probably know him from shows like Grey’s Anatomy and the movie Enchanted, or maybe even Dexter: Original Sin. I just heard he’s going to be in the sequel to Thanksgiving – the horror movie from 2023 – which is exciting news! They’re still getting everything ready for it, but I’m already looking forward to seeing him in it.
