Patrick Dempsey reveals the reason behind his absence from Scream 7
Patrick Dempsey has revealed the reason he won’t be returning for Scream 7.
Initially, the lead actor from “Grey’s Anatomy” made his appearance in the 2000 sequel “Scream 3” playing Detective Mark Kincaid, but he couldn’t reprise his role for the fifth part because he was busy filming “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” at that time.
Initially, there was speculation in October that Dempsey might return to the horror series for Scream 7. However, it was subsequently disclosed that he will not reappear in the role for the upcoming film.
During an interview with Variety, the actor shared his reasons for not appearing in the forthcoming film, and it appears that timing is playing a role yet again.
As a gamer residing in California, I found myself caught up in the chaos of the raging wildfires. Amidst the turmoil and disruptions, it turned out that our plans didn’t sync up as expected, which is regrettably the case.
Instead of Mark Kincaid being present, a fresh character named Mark Evans will enter the scene shortly. Previously introduced in “Scream 5”, this newcomer is portrayed as Sidney Prescott’s husband, and the talented actor Joel McHale from “Community” will bring him to life on screen.
Right up my alley! As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the original cast members – Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher – have all been officially confirmed for Scream 7. Can’t wait to see them back on the big screen!
Excitedly speaking about the upcoming chapter of the beloved “Scream” series, I can’t help but share my joy that Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, who brought Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin to life in the fifth and sixth films, will be reprising their roles. Fresh faces joining this chilling lineup include Isabel May as Sidney’s daughter, Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.
The author of “Scream,” Kevin Williamson, is set to make his directorial debut on the franchise for the upcoming seventh film.
Scream 7 will be released in cinemas on February 27, 2026.
